Hello,

So I'm way ahead of myself (NOA1 June 14th 2018), but we're just going through the Embassy Checklist Documentation to get a gist of what we will need to take.

In the checklist initially it shows "affidavit of support" but when you drill down into it, this states:

  Quote

K and Diversity visa applicants are not required to provide an I-864 Form.  However, they must show evidence that they are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. There is no set for that this evidence must take but use of the form I-134 is an efficient way to provide this information to the Consular Officer.

Expand

What sort of evidence, is there a financial figure that would count to the interviewer that you would not become a public charge?

Thanks in advance

this is taken from the K1 fiancé guide here on VJ (its too soon for you to gather these evidences as they need to be dated closer to your interview)

4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.
5.

You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)
(C) If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern
(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

it was more of a self sponsor that I was looking for, is there a rough figure they require for this to be done? My Fianceé is above the poverty figures but I'm looking just to sponsor myself.

Thanks Leesa, we are well aware and meet the criteria of the annual income requirements.

But my post is if it's possible for me to show proof of personal savings (not my fianceé - the petitioner's income) without the need to submit an affidavit of support.

Sorry! I seem to have misunderstood the question. Are you the beneficiary looking to sponsor yourself? Where will your interview be at? Edit: didn't see your post above mine.

I actually have the information. You wouldn't be required to self sponsor unless your Fianceé couldn't support you, I understand you want to show you can support yourself, but this isn't actually important until you file for the AoS. In any case, it's either something like 125% above the poverty line, or 3x the petitioners earnings or something. It is a lot of money.

I do not know the current number, not much, seems to be what they think you would need for 90 days so if you have any savings of consequence you should be good to go, contact them and ask them for a current figure.

Not a problem at all.

I am the beneficiary and yes, I'm looking to sponsor myself if anyone is aware of the rough figure required.

I'm a long way off the interview stage, but it will be at the London embassy.

Edited my previous post, but also a good shout to call the embassy. They are actually pretty helpful there.

Well, self sponsoring is allowed for London K1 cases. Generally you'd need a significant amount of assets in the bank. How much exactly is really up to the IO, but it is not usually a small number. Keep in mind that once you arrive in the US, marry, and file for adjustment of status, your spouse will be needing to sponsor you financially anyway and provide all documentation according to the more strict guidelines. So keep that in mind.

If you intend on self sponsorship, I would actually be prepared to bring all required documentation from your fiancé anyway, just in case the IO does not accept your financials. There are a lot of threads on VJ about the various amounts of cash holdings self-sponsoring individuals used I'd check those to get a rough idea.

Thank you all for your comments and advice. Definitely seems best to just take the forms in as we're going to be at some point required to fill them in regardless.

It was a small number when I went through, I took my financials and they just glanced at them and it was not until later I found out that it was not 3X etc.
