Still no GC after 8 months

Hi all,

My AOS from J1 (married a US citizen) was approved Dec 2017 and I still haven't gotten my card yet. They sent it in December 2017 but I wasn't informed that I was approved AND they mailed out the card but I happened to move apartments the same week, which resulted in the card being sent back to USCIS.

After 2 service requests, (90 days + 90 days wait), they finally mailed it out, but I never received it. Turns out they had a typo in my address so it was undeliverable. Sent back to USCIS. What the hell, right?

Did another SR and it's been 40 days as they promised and surprise surprise, still no card. Called them but they wouldn't transfer me to a tier 2 officer due to "high call volumes". I'm just so frustrated not having the damn card after 8 months. Any advice?

Hi fellow Sinkie,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I can empathize with the mounting frustration as I read through your ordeal. It must be depressing that after getting through what's supposedly the hardest part (being approved), you are stuck in some kind of weird limbo due to multiple logistical mishap.

Have you tried Infopass appointments (https://www.uscis.gov/tools/your-guide-infopass)? I am not as far along in the process but I've heard good things about these in-person appointments.

Stay strong and don't let the delay get you down!

Infopass didn't do anything for me either. They couldn't do anything except tell me to do another SR. I went to get my passport stamped, and even that they ###### up. They wrote the wrong alien number on my passport which resulted a delay when I was checking in at the airport because the number didn't match my name. God, people at USCIS are so inept at their job it is amazing.

It's a shame what you had to go through. Must've been a close shave at the airport! Please keep us all posted when things are resolved for you--I hope it won't be too long now.
