Hello,

i filed led removal of conditions April 17, 2017 and have been patiently waiting to hear anything since. I filed my N400 application the same day in 2018 when I became eligible. My concern is I have read around the forums that even though I-751’s are being processed from around my NOA date right now, mine will not be approved yet because it will be combined with my N400. Is this true for every case? I could understand this in cases where the local office is working quickly but my local office isn’t likely to process my application for citizenship till April next year. Does this mean I have to wait until then to be approved for the greencard too? Or have you guys seen people approved for i-751 before their N400. I’m a CSC filer.

thanks

Apologies, but the answer is maybe yes or maybe no.  You mentioned they are processing I751s in you timeframe, so if your’s is Currently being addressed, it may not be combined with the N400.  No one really knows the exact trigger that forces the applications to be combined, is it when the N400 is filed, or when the local office starts looking at the N400.

Good Luck!

Have you gotten an office transfer update for your ROC? If yes it'll most likely be combined. My hubby's ROC from February 2017 had an office transfer in May. He filed N400 in March. Pretty sure they've been combined. We are in Minnesota we have the slowest field office. I wish we would have held off on N400 now and he would probably have GC in hand now. I don't know what USCISs mentality is behind delaying ROCs with citizenship applications. Maybe it's punishment for trying to file for citizenship while ROC still pending.

Thanks for your reply. The only thing I have has on my ROC is the transferred to local office glitch back in early March like everyone else got and nothing since. I remember everyone getting this update though and it turning out to be a glitch of some kind. Other than that my case hasn’t updated at all. Does seem strange as I would expect approvals on my case pretty soon and really don’t want to wait until the Los Angeles field office does their job, they are so backlogged right now.

As is Minnesota. Our estimated completion time is January 2020. Which means all he has is his stamp in his passport which we will have to get another next April.

When and if a real office transfer happens to you you will also get a notice in the mail. If it's being combined it'll say your case has been transferred to the National Benefits Center.

I didn't. Our case has taken forever. I reached out to our Senator who, together with USCIS, confirmed the cases had been combined and were located in Seattle. No notification (save from the false update earlier in the year). I think it's just a waiting game. The longest waiting game to date.

Seattle here. Reading your post really make me rethink about filing N400 immediately given that Seattle has such a long back log for N400 petition.

Yeah, I can definitely understand. But the wait times just keep dragging on. On one hand, you've already paid for your ROC, but on the other, it's just nice to get it all over with. It's a personal preference. If I had the choice, I'd do it the same way over again.

So you would file for ROC and as soon as you’re eligible, you would file for citizenship?  How has it been not having the 10 year GC?  Any problems with employment or DL?  Thanks!

Unfortunately, I have found out that it DOES delay things....:-( We filed June 4th 2017 for ROC and filed an N-400 in May 20th 2018. When we went to get a stamp as well as a Second Tier Office said, huge delays in NYC. We are probably looking at March/April 2019 for an interview....

They combined mine, and it sped up my N400. My local office (Portland OR) has a waiting time of around 6mo, but I got an intreview date as soon as I became eligible (3 yrs anniversary). Interestingly enough, even though I had a combo interview, they still produced and mailed my 10 year GC, which I'll have had for a little under a month by the time I turn it in at the oath ceremony (this coming Tue).
I waited 17 months for the ROC but it didn't affect me in any way. I traveled internationally a few times on the extension without any issue, and I think starting the clock for the N400 as soon as possible was a good decision.

What does the combo interview involve? Does it mean your spouse needs to come too, opposed to the normal n400?
