J-1 Visa No objection Statement---applied on March, still waiting for a decision---is this normal? what should I do?

Hello everyone,

I am getting desperate about my case. I applied for a J-1 No objection waiver back in March and the DOS received all my documents one month later and the No objection letter from my country's embassy was sent in April. Everything was going smoothly until the moment the DOS requested "sponsor views" one month later. Fortunately, the NIH (considered to be my sponsor by the DOS) sent their views in May.

The last update in the website was on May 29th, and my case says "pending". All documents were received, as indicated in my timeline.

It has been impossible to contact the DOS over the phone and even by email. I only received a reply back in May and they did not even answer my question, it was just a general response.

I am writing to ask if anyone has experienced something like this, and if so, how can I contact the DOS to know if there is any document missing?

I have been waiting for 10 weeks now from the moment the DOS received the sponsor views, which I assume to be the last requested documents before they send the recommendation.

I am out of the country at the moment, since my J-1 visa already expired so I had no choice but to return to my home country for the moment.

If someone could please help me as well to find out if it worthy or not to hire a lawyer for a case like me, I would really appreciated! So far, I have done everything by myself.

Thank so much in advance!
