My wife's visa expires 8/12 and we have not heard about a EAD yet. We applied 3/21 and were fingerprinted 4/22. Her VA state ID expires that same day, as well. Does this mean she cannot travel even within the US? How does it usually work?

Thank you to those that can answer this question.

The I-485's receipt notice (NOA1) works for evidence of authorized stay, so she can travel domestically fine. The passport is a valid photo ID.

Thank you to those that can answer this question.

I don't have the answer for you, but...   I see your time line ,  our NOA is the same date, and our bio apt  is a day apart, 4-24 and yours 4-25.  I did notice your adjudication could be the 15th - 29th of Aug, and ours is 9th  - 23. I guess the difference is the service location.    I got to thinking of the song,  "tomorrow never comes"   because every day I get closer to the date, one day away, and they kick the can down the road another day.  That was how it was with the I-129f, but eventually.   I am sure, that even though her visa expires, you are in the system, and it is not your fault the process is slow(er).  If you keep copies of your NOA's and also go in to the USCIS and enter your numbers, then print out the status and carry that with you and her and I would think you would be good to go. Just my opinion though. With the visa, she had 6 months to enter in to the US, and 90 days to marry.  I suspect most everyone’s visa stamp expires while they wait.
