Can I do this two things simultaneously?

Hello,

 

I'm currently waiting on my NOA2 and getting ready for next steps. We would love me to be in the US for NYE 2018 as it's our anniversary date. I have to renew my passport (actually is an extension sticker they add to it, not a new passport) and it takes aprox 1-2 months. I can only do this after mid-Octuber.

 

On the other hand, Ciudad Juarez consulate is backlogged I think and an interview date may take longer than 2-3 months.

 

So, I was wondering: Can I use my current passport information to book an interview and then after getting the passport extension update it on the DS160 form ?

 

My passport number will be the same, is the same passport, same information, and all I'll need to update is the expiration date they will include in the extension sticker. It would be great to be able to book an interview for early December and do the passport thing before it. We are trying our best to be together before 2018 ends.

Yes. People can even book the interview with the existing passport after having filled in DS260/160 and bring a completely new passport during the interview.
