Does a Canadian Passport holder need a visa to travel to Europe?

Hi everyone,

My husband is a Canadian citizen and a US permanent resident. We are hoping to visit Spain in the fall and I can’t figure out if he needs to apply for a Schengen visa or if his Canadian passport exempts him from needing a visa. His ROC is in process right now too, and I don’t know if that will make getting a visa more difficult. Have any permanent residents travelled to Europe and had experience with this situation?

Thanks in advance for any help!
