I'm not subservient. Also, you're barking up the wrong tree with me. My great grandmother came to the US in 1921. She was processed through Ellis Island with her mother, two brothers and sister. They lived through the depression and fought hard to make their dream work for them. I am a descendant of immigrants and am incredibly proud. They came the right way, worked for a good life and I am proud of that.

I think the difference between now and 60+ years ago is that a birth, for example, at our local hospital plus a week long stay was maybe $50 back then.  My last birth and NICU baby was probably around $60,000+, the one before that was over $100,000.  Your grandmother couldn't have afforded that, even adjusted for inflation.

Yeah, prices were different and people were far more stubborn when it came to medical stuff. The woman refused to go to the Cleveland Clinic up until a week before she died.

Who says Obama ? Who appointed this judge? Which state were the one which first allowed gay marriage?? Democart or Gop? The left has always been behind the LGBT movement, so don’t act like you will be welcome with Trump and  the GOP who are constently against you right. So you would be willing to move to Phillipines but support people back home who think you are a sinner? 😳😳😳😳😳

Lol You must have missed the post where I said I'm no conservative; but their policies overall are way better than any liberal democratic(now going socialist it seems). You all must be listening to way too many crazed, fear mongering media sources where as there is no story or action at all taken upon gay marriage or any of it. If we didn't have to get married for the K-1 we wouldn't have. We don't need the marriage, that's just legal stuff.

And as for the Dem or GOP state.. well I'm glad to live in a red state that isn't how ever many millions in debt as Cali is nor deals with that homelessness and yet uses tax payer money to protect illegal aliens (even criminal ones). Also people here in this state  tend to be a bit more in actual reality than living in la-la land like them.

Hey. Generalizing is dangerous. There are some real crazy people on both sides, but not everyone who is conservative is hateful and wants to diminish the LGBT population.

Only gotten to do a layover in Minnesota before on the way to North Dakota but always wanted to go venturing and drive through the state. One day I will get the chance. I'm from Oregon originally (note the duck below haha) but man that state has changed in the last 10 years so much. Still beautiful; just not so much politically now.

I spend a lot of time in North Dakota.  It is red, but they have budget struggles when oil prices are low.  Our healthcare coverage in Minnesota is much more generous than theirs.

I think what Minnesota and Texas have in common is that both are places where it is affordable to live. The population knows that by working that they are going to improve their standard of living and move onto the property ladder.  In California, that isn't going to be the case for a lot of people.  I think that is generally a coastal problem.

You are right a lot about the cost of living. Originally when I took an international rotation position in my company I looked into moving to Minnesota because could get a nice house outside the city for good price. Same here in Texas generally (each has their expensive areas I know) but I wanted to get out of the heat haha. Miss snow a lot too, and then there's the whole hurricane issue too. I'd take Minnesota over ND just cause there isn't anything in ND at all haha.

Also off topic completely. I work for a Danish company and have gotten to visit Denmark. Mostly out in Hillerod but gotten to venture Copenhagen as well and take the train to Malmo for an evening.  Always in the winter times... haha.

This news article has me worried as I claimed unemployment benefits for a couple of months while I was unemployed in the last 8 years I have been a LPR... Will it affect my application? From what I know, after 5 years of being LPR, you are eligible to receive public benefits!

Unemployment benefits are different because you pay unemployment insurance from every paycheck so it's your money, not public funds.  In any case, there is no public charge bar to naturalization.
