Then I guess we should be expecting you and your spouse to be heading back to Poland then. Easy for you to say that when you (or spouse) has already migrated. pfft!

It has nothing to do with the fact that I immigrated or not already.

It's the fact. That's how things are. It's not 1800 where American needed people to come and work.. It's fine and self sustained by now.

Actually even the strongest of immigration reforms didn't affect spousal or K-1 visas so... yea.. did get rid of some of the "dead weight" categories though.

Yeah I'm not really sure how telling immigrants on an immigration site that it would be fine to have the US stop letting in immigrants altogether is an asset. Especially since they/their spouse is one, it's a very "screw you, we got ours" attitude, the type that is ruining this country.

It's not UNTRUE though. America is a large country. We have a strong economy. Immigrants do benefit us, but if they stopped letting people in, it would not collapse. Prices would go up, inflation with groceries and construction would be off the chain, but we'd get by.

just like health care? The jobs that need to be filled are already more than what US produces. This is why immigrants benefit US economy.

Health care inflated because there were more 'risky' applicants. There were less healthy families and more Luann's from the trailer park that could afford insurance even though she's got six kids and smokes four packs a day.

This would be stupid.  Instead of preventing immigrants who received benefits legally afforded to them such as Obamacare subsidies from getting green cards/citizenship, they should just start actually enforcing the Affidavit of Support and charging the US sponsor.

There are actually a lot of Americans out of work, whether from being forced out or whatever in the past... These people aren't counted with the unemployment numbers because they don't take it... but these people could get back into the work force if companies offered training and pay which they don't. The amount of people available could fill a majority of the spots.

Plus, immigration isn't going to stop; but a merit base system for it would be optimal. Sorry if that comes off as "racist", i know that is everyone's favorite cry these days. Clearly I can't be from my husband but yea... that argument would be useless.

Dang... I got drug back into this stupid thread again.

I do like it that you acknowledged that groceries and construction will inflate. Add tech jobs to that as well. Wages have been in check due to huge immigration from India.

Yes it does. You don't get to say how people should not immigrate to the US anymore when you yourself is a modern migrant. Well assuming you didn't migrate in the 1800. You got the chance and option to migrate to the US and so does anybody else who does it legally. Its not up to you to decide on that.

Remote tech support jobs and call center jobs could EASILY be filled by entry level Americans, but it's cheaper to bring in someone for a few years, pay no pension and then churn them out than it is to invest in USCs who will want benefits and pension. That's just the truth of it.

I do believe that US should look into helping the US citizens first just like any other country. UN report mentioned that they need help badly and govt is not helping them the way it should.
