How to handle blank fields on form I-751

Quick question:
If you dont have any children, can you leave all the fields for children blank in "Part 5 - Information About Your Children"?

So, IF one decided to put "N/A",  would you do so for every field (Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, etc.),  and do so for all five children (Child 1 - Child 5)?

 

Or can you just put "N/A" in the first field for each Child, i.e. in the Last Name field only, and do so for each of the 5 Children,  IF you decide to go with putting "N/A"?

Questions - Since you used past tense in your sentence, just want to check some things:

Is your timeline up-to-date?

Have you actually filed an I-751?

Did your Form I-751 for Removal of Conditions actually get approved as filed? 

Your timeline suggests that you are not even at the Removal of Conditions stage, at least not on the current visa application.

(Or maybe you filed a Removal of Conditions for a previous visa, of course...we can understand that if you did.)

Was just wondering.

They don't have to be going through the same phase as you. On the I-129F and AOS documents, it's recommended to either leave the forms blank or put N/A in them. Regardless of how far you are in the process.

We are asking specifically about Form I-751 Removal of Conditions, which is why we posted in the Removal of Conditions forum.

We have to complete a Form I-751.

We, too, did not have an issue with the forms before ROC,

A number of people have had issues with Form I-751 specifically.

We started the process back in 2016, and some people on VJ has been enormously helpful in our filing a very seamless I-130.

We did not sweat the blank fields back then either and got our visa in under a month.

Based on the instructions and experience of others as written here on VJ, ROC Form I-751 is different - more strict.

So, we we posted this question for people who have experience with that form in particular.

Unless you have been married for longer than 2 years when you apply for your immigrant visa, we think you have to do ROC as well.

So what is different about that and us saying to leave it blank or putting N/A?

Yeah, the I-751 form just changed in Dec, 2017, and the instructions DO SAY don't leave any fields blank, as mentioned above.

(Not sure what I-129 says or said, we did I-130 via DCF, which was processed locally, and quickly.)

 

Leaving inapplicable fields blank makes the most sense, clearly. But, our federal govt does not always do what makes sense, clearly.

Even the people who made the PDF form-fillable itself did not enable the "/" character, so if one wants to put "N/A" then one has to do so manually after the form is printed. In 2018!

 

We can do like many other people - Predict, presume, and hypothesize ....about what is cool.

 

But, if anyone has actually had their I-751 approved with the blanks (my preferred method), using a fairly recent form, we would love to hear from you.

 

We will file our Form I-751 ROC next month.
