That is an interesting thought considering how important FB and Twitter think of themselves relative to the last election.  Are they private entities for entertainment purposes, or more like the media that is required to provide equal time to all sides of political debate?

Social media yes.. because you signed a EULA before using it. They also consider themselves platforms, not content providers/creators. 

 

Cable tv has a natural Monopoly. That's why they implemented those rules for equal candidate coverage.

Again, once you register to a website platform service (whether it social media, a forum, a game, a blog etc) - you basically sign an agreement. YOU are the provider of content, not the platform. They are making money off of YOU. YOU agree to post only the content that is desirable by the provider. They reserve the right under the agreement to remove your content, use your content for whatever purpose they want, make money off of your content, and remove your account from their services.

 

So many people do not think about this in such context when they sign up to these platforms. Facebook's terms is really not much different than this forum or any other.
