I mean it's using conservatives and infowars (Alex Jones) in the same statement that's pretty clear. He's not a conservative. You may feel that Jones is also 'right wing' as you've said, but what exactly do you base that on, especially as you've said you're not all that familiar with Jones' work? But he's not that either. Personally? I'd classify him as an anarchist, a con artist cult leader. Youtube and other such companies reserve the right in their terms to remove anyone at any time for any reason - it's what Jones agreed to by putting his platform there. He still has his website, and many other methods available to him to continue to abuse his free speech rights.

 

The only amusing thing about this whole story is that they have only decided to pay attention to him now - when he's been harassing, threatening, and promoting false and violent rhetoric for years. I've been warning how dangerous this man is for what seems like ages. And largely many of these sites have lots of people on their platforms that continually violate their TOS. They let them do it for $s.

Sure, run businesses in the economy by committee (democratically) which is how I read “Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few.“.  I believe that is how the Soviet Union did it, they had all sorts of committees at all levels of government and business to make these decisions.  Worked early well didn’t it? If the DSA folks think the wealth gap is bad now, just wait until this is implemented.

i get that you want democratic socialism to be the same as communism but it isn't.

I get that you don’t want it to be the same as socialism in a communist system, but I tend to be a big picture kind of person.  First of all running the economy/businesses democratically (I.e. through some sort of voting decision by the workers or something like that) would lead to chaos and very little decisions being made.  This will lead to the need for higher groups to direct these lower groups (presumably from the government, can you say central committee) so something actually gets done.  Then there is the entire question of risks, businesses start because someone decided to take a big risk, groups voting on something tend to be very risk adverse which would tend to stifle innovation in the long run and hinder business performance.  I have never advocated unfettered capitalism, but capitalist economies with smart regulation work best.

 

Regardless, there is still a disconnect between Bernie and the DSA where he says he wants to maintain a capitalist economy whereas the DSA advocates an economy run democratically.  Big big difference.

i don't want ds to be the same as socialism/communism, which works out great because it isn't.
