So filling out the Form I-129F and boy isn't this fun. lots of vague and unclear directions with very little guide and large risk of being denied in case you mess something up even without wanting to. tons of possible special circumstances that make you question what to do and no hotline to call for help. gotta love that democracy and bureaucracy.

so my Fiance has this issue. she has 2 dads (technically). her biological one, and a "step dad". i say "step dad" because although they are basically a family unit, he is not related on paper to her or her mother, as they live together and never officially married. so this makes me think i should not include his info as the father, however, asking about her biological father, she said she has  ZERO documents with his name on them. he was never legally registered as her father, not on her government identification, birth certificate, nothing. so now i am also unsure on if i should put him as the father, because we have nothing to prove it with, short of digging up his grave to do a DNA test, which i honestly do not think is gonna happen (and not even sure if that could work). so in this case what do i do with the fathers info? do i leave it blank? put in the name of her biological father even though we could not prove that they are related? put in the step dads just cause he happens to be living there for the past 8+ years or something? none of these options sound that good to me, and the best 4th option i could think of is leaving it blank, but then going to section 8 and filling in the info and explaining this whole situation there. however i have no clue which of these has potential to slow down the process and which they will let go by without issue.

Just put "Unknown".... a  lot of people are in the same situation.  If she has information specific to her biological father then put what she can but otherwise again, if her step dad never legally adopted her, he technically doesn't need to be listed.

I had a very similar situation. Was raised by my mom, never had my father figure around but I knew his name. So I included in the forms and that was it. My all process was smooth and didnt have a single problem.
