I support the Uber drivers choosing who to transport, they are independent entities, however, if the public transportation utilizes public funds as most do, I do not. If the transportation workers refuse to serve paying customers they should be off the clock and not receiving a paycheck for their protest

metro was planning special accommodations for participants of the rally (see op).  workers aren't refusing to transport them, just refusing special accommodations.

We will accommodate you but separately and we will accommodate you but not separately is mutually exclusive, in both cases they are not providing transportation to all riders

what? how so?

The proposal would involve providing special trains to white nationalists on August 11 and 12 that pick up at the East Falls Church Metro in Virginia and go to the Foggy Bottom station.

The union has declared that it will not play a role in their special accommodation.

I assume the metro employees are members of the union with the exception of the management,

If the metro won't allow them public Access and the union will not allow alternate access then they are refusing their service to these riders, unless you mean they will provide separate but equal transportation

Separate but equal has been railed against on too many occasions, additionally this puts the accommodated riders at risk physically (whether or not you think they have earned it) because you are wrapping them up in a pretty package for anyone that were inclined to attack them

metro isn't denying them public access, they're refusing special accommodations.

Washington D.C.’s metro rail system is considering providing separate trains for white nationalists attending the so-called “Unite the Right” rally next weekend, according to the Washington Post.

That is a quote from the original topic, it is a statement of what the Metro is considering, couple that with the unions refusal for special accommodations, what else is it?

The organization and it's union member employees are either refusing service or considering offering separate service

refusing separate trains, not access

Metro no longer considering separate trains for white nationalists attending ‘Unite the Right’ rally

Metro Board Chairman Jack Evans had previously said that running a separate train was among options being weighed by officials.

“Metro will not be providing a special train or special car for anyone next Sunday,” Evans said.

Word about the possibility of the service for rallygoers spread quickly Friday and Saturday, drawing condemnation from those who decried “special treatment” for white nationalist groups, which are focused on the goal of achieving a whites-only state or the separation of whites from other groups. Others thought the possible move to constitute a form of segregation.

Evans had said that Metro was simply exploring every option to prevent violence between rally participants and counterprotesters.

At 1330.2 per 100,000, I think DC has fallen closer to # 15 in the US for violent crime.  (Congress not included, which would likely put DC at #1).

But if you look at the top 15 or 20 cities in the US for violent crime, some commonalities pop out at you pretty fast.
