In America, yes.  We have constitutionally protected free speech.  Protected free speech includes "hate" speech.  I know it is a hard concept for Europeans to get their minds around.  It is a value I'd lay my life down for and I hope that any other citizen would too.

Larry Flynt once said something to the effect of..If the constitution can protect someone like me it can protect you.  Words something like that.

Yeah we Europeans know what that mean. See my post about nazi's in Sweden. I just asked if it "should" be okay. I would lay down my life for free speech but I am not laying my life down for a nazi saying he is going to kill Jews.

I don't think that is the correct use of an apostrophe, possession and plural are two different things.  Nazi is a weird word to pluralize, I know, so you get a pass there.  Correct term might be National Socialists or at the very least Nazis.    We are talking about the Nordic Resistance Movement, right?  Honestly, they look like clowns with their uniforms and shields.  Why anyone takes them seriously is besides me.  It is like taking the modern day Klan seriously.  Fat white slobs in costumes going on about Christian supremacy.  They are only given any sort of legitimacy because people are treating them like a boogie man, when they are just a handful of nothings.

A definitive threat to do bodily harm is not usually covered under free speech.  You can't just walk up to someone and threaten to kill them.  So, I'm doubting that what they are saying is exactly along the lines of "I'm going to kill these specific people because they are Jewish (or whatever else)."

I know a lot about Swedish politics, including that bit.  I don't really care what someone's personal beliefs are - whether they think meat eaters should be fed to pigs or they believe in some nut job conspiracy.  Free speech is free speech.*

*But not in Sweden.

There seems to be a very odd belief here that people at that rally are shouting credible threats of violence or that these threats of violence are protected under the First Amendment. Both untrue.

The alt right is a reactionary movement which spurred as a response to the never-ending push anti-white narratives by the Left (there's no such thing as alt-left) in Media, Academia, and Government itself, as well as a push to open America's borders to unlimited immigration, which would utterly destroy it. As a group they're largely irrelevant and holding a rally isn't going to change anything, unless the Media blows it out of proportion and gives them free publicity, like they've been doing.

Donald Trump won 2016 exactly because of what I'm describing and the GOP will win 2018, 2020, and 2024 as well, unless the Democrats stop doubling down on their "coalition of the ascendant" and return to the white working class, which may not be possible after what Trump did.

It's time to stop and think what liberal democrats want for the US and for you and then think about why the alt-right exists past a few bald rednecks in a trailer park.

credible threats of violence? sorry but, last year a woman was murdered at the unite the right rally. multiple black men were physically attacked and beaten beyond recognition. of course, if you're not a resident of charlottesville - or now nova & dc - this might all seem like no big deal if you're white and don't have to worry about any of these goons attacking you.

for me, it isn't about the media and certainly isn't about donald trump. and i certainly don't buy the argument that the poor victimized alt right barely exists.  i also seriously don't understand why a person with such an anti immigrant attitude is on an immigration forum. "anti white' narratives of the left? love to see some examples.

I'm not anti-immigration, I'm anti illegal immigration. I myself will be an immigrant in a few months so being anti-immigration wouldn't make sense.

Heather Heyer's unfortunate death was not caused by the rally or any of its organizers, she was at the wrong place at the wrong time (specifically at the place of someone's vehicle being mobbed and assaulted by violent anarchists) and the whole situation was regrettable.I don't support nor condone violence for any political end (which is called terrorism, legally) and anyone who does is either an imbecile or a federal agent.

The anti-white narrative is evident by a few scrolls of the Huffington Post, Salon, or any other left-leaning publication, and the lack of condemnation from more mainstream sources only works to bolster it. In Academia, all you need to do is attend a humanities class to learn about how "white people" are colonizers and racists and how we love to oppress "people of color" and "womxn" even to this day. You have to be willfully ignorant at this point to not notice it.

Also notice how one side isn't wearing masks and doesn't carry makeshift weapons.

it doesn't make sense, but your opinions are yours.

clearly you are unaware of full story regarding first unite the right rally. heather heyer was killed by a participant of the rally. i understand why the right would like to blame 'violent anarchists' for her death and all the other violent assaults that came from that gathering of racists in charlottesville. i agree that the violent acts of white nationalists groups that day were terrorist acts.

i suggest you take an american history class or two. i've taken a humanitites class so, i'm still not sure where you're getting this nonsense. i'll wait for you to provide explicit examples of huffpo, salon, etc being 'anti-white'.

you are again, unaware of the facts. there were plenty of makeshift weapons used by the alt right that day. there is also chat/email evidence from participants of the unite the right rally, in which weapons were discussed.

If she was at the wrong place at the wrong time and everything was just an accident, why is the driver James Alexander Filds Jr (described as a Nazi sympathizer by those who know him) being charged with 2nd-degree murder and multiple hate crimes? Doesn't sound like an accident to me.

But when participants of a BLM rally kill cops and burn down cities.  -They were not real BLM members.... ROFL

black lives matter rallies and events occur all over this country, on a weekly basis, without any violence.

blaming black lives matter for the murders committed by micah johnson makes about as much sense as blaming the army reserve, considering he was a army reservist as well.

transportation is definitely going to be an issue for unite the right participants this weekend;

Uber Says Its Drivers Can Kick Out White Supremacists

Quote

Drivers with the transportation company Uber will have the chance to refuse passengers who attend the upcoming Unite the Right 2 white supremacist rally in DC on August 12. The refusal is contingent on a driver’s feelings of comfort and safety in accordance with the app’s community guidelines.

According to the terms agreed upon when signing up for the service, both drivers and passengers are “are expected to exercise good judgment and behave decently towards other people in the car when riding with Uber.” That list of bad behavior includes breaking the local law, damaging property, and use of inappropriate and abusive language or gestures. Uber tells Washingtonian that if a driver deems actions by a passenger discriminatory—which could include ideology, signage, and remarks associated with racial supremacy and neo-nazism—a driver is within his or her right to terminate the ride. It’s possible, too, that the user could be banned from using the app entirely, though Uber maintains that it investigates each complaint on a case to case basis.

Yet the app exercised its right to remove a white supremacist user last year when it banned James Allsup after a African-American driver kicked Allsup and alt-right personality Baked Alaska (Tim Gionet) out of her car, BuzzFeed News reported. After reviewing a now-deleted video posted to Gionet’s now-suspended Twitter account, Uber booted Allsup from its services completely. The incident occurred just one day before the deadly riots in Charlottesville.

“Drivers always have the right to refuse service to riders who are disrespectful or make them feel unsafe, as the driver in this case rightly did,” Uber said in a statement sent to BuzzFeed News at the time.
