I-129f Expiration Date?!

Yikes! I have booked my interview for the end of September and spent the morning preparing all the necessary forms, only to notice that there’s an expiration date on my original petition! 

 

It says my petition expires 17 days before my interview. Is this a problem? Does that expiration only apply if you take no action after receiving it?

 

Just trying to figure out if I need to leap into action.

The embassy should auto-extend the expiration date. They do realize it takes time to gather some documents, medical, ect. Plus some embassies don't even have interview dates within the allotted time frame. You should be fine.

No, it isn't a problem. Since the embassy scheduled your interview, it sounds like they're OK with it as is. Some embassies, like London, want a more recent letter of intent to marry if the expiration date has passed. If they didn't ask you for anything though, I wouldn't be worried.

You'll be fine. So long as you are actively working on the case, especially interviewing beforehand, they won't expire it on you.
