Hi guys! I'm in the US with my husband (We got married, filled our i-130 and will leave on wednesday, august 8th, after amazing almost 6 months here with him - My visa expires on august 13th), and last week we opened a bank account. We put some money there for myself in case I need in Brazil and in the future it will be for our shared household bills. Our expected interview date probably may take some time yet (I'm an April filler in Potomac). So, taking our bank account as evidence is valid for our interview?

 

Regarding our personal accounts, we preferred to keep them individual and use our shared one to house bills and each other's support.

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

One bit of advice:  If not already done, I suggest you start building a credit history in the US as soon as you can.  This will be important if you decide to buy a house, etc. later.  Good luck!!

Since I don't have a Social Security yet I thought I couldn't start building credits yet here. My cellphone account is under my husband's name (Which I'll also take to the interview as an evidence), and our bank account is under his mortgage and loan (Maybe somehow like this I'm building some sort of credit?)
