All I would like to say is that not everyone is blessed with a normal, functioning, and decent set of parents.

nope, not even you can do that

 

if you lost your certificate you would need to file a form and pay for a replacement

 

so the only way would be going to your home and stealing it or getting the  certificate or passport and taking pictures of them on their phones, I don't think they would be capable of that

 

that probably would only happen in the movies

 

you can be cautious but I wouldn't obsess about it, it would be very unlikely that they would do such a thing

 

don't get paranoid about it

 

and that's only for proof of citizenship, but then as said comes the sponsorship, the financial documents, taxes, paystubs, and other evidence. there is a lot of documents that they need from you aside from the birth certificate
