Just found out that we got approved.

The website still says received, but I called this morning and also my attorney did, and they confirmed the case was approved 1 week ago. I wonder what is going on with the website.

If you are over 210 days and no news, you might want to call, just to make sure.

Someone posted the link below on the August 2018 NOA2 - NVC thread and I filled it out this morning and sent it off. Check out that thread as it's very helpful and gives you an idea how long the average applicant waits. Hoping I can stay in the "average time frame" for the next steps as opposed to those waiting longer...(I'm not sure how to link to that thread...sorry)

And CONGRATULATIONS - after 226 days USCIS should include a huge gift basket with the NOA2!

Thank you!!

Hi All,

I am 216 day mark since NOA1. I filled an inquiry on Monday but got the response that they will get back to me before 9/4 (however this seems to be inconsistent looking at other folks). I have rang and asked to talk to a Tier 2 on a number of occasions and while some are pretty unhelpful, two gave me the update that was case was sent for background checks in July and there was no update since. Does anyone have an idea around how long the background check phase usually takes?

Additionally i reached out to my congress representative yesterday, hopefully they will be able to help, at the very least it can't do any harm.  From the form they asked me to fill out it appears that they get a lot of similar requests.

FINALLY got approved after 226 days.

I can’t wait to start being able to set up exams/interview/etc... I want to get this process moving 😊

does anyone know know how long we should wait after NOA2 before calling to get our NVC number?

Oh but in this meantime you had a RFE sent to you right? Do you mind me asking what the RFE was about?

I'm at day 220 without any news at all 😔

Received the RFE today (day 226). I had called last week and was told nothing could be done until the inquiry I submitted was handled by the 31st. RFE was dispatched on the 17th.

Within is a brief questionnaire regarding criminal history, I swear I filled that out but this document says I didn't. I am correct in thinking this refers to me, the petitioner? The document is addressed and written to me, mostly. I just want to double check.

Also, is the request of passport style pictures of each of us and an intent to marry from her. I'm going to include one from me as well, though it's not specifically asked for. Would it be acceptable for her to send me a scanned copy of her letter of intent (signed of course) and I print it out to attach with the RFE packet?

the criminal part does refer to the petitioner...passport style photos is from each of you...you have to label them as well (i just attached it to a sheet of paper with a paper clip and wrote underneath "photo of <petitioner's name>" and for the other one "photo of <beneficiary's name>) As for the intent to marry it needs to be a wet signature from what i understand...meaning a physical one, which is what i sent in as well. Good luck to you!

No, there’s nothing to be concerned about except for the fact that our case is one of those “waiting for an approval”. Me either is still waiting for our RFE letter since Aug. 13. When was the last time you talked to tier 2?

I spoke to them yesterday. They said nothing was mailed it is sitting on supervisors desk for approval for RFE to be sent since August 8.

Tier 1 said RFE was mailed on 8 August and requested reissue

Tier 2 said no RFE sent and the first week.of September we should hear something and to call back to Tier 2 on September 10 if we dont hear anything.

I know it's USCIS, so this probably has no meaning or reason, but always when I sign into the new website I see "We Received Your Case."  Except today I see:1779870515_ScreenShot2018-08-23at5_36_28PM.png.0771d54dc2abbd949ff9e20dff53779a.png

They changed the wording.  Probably means nothing I'm sure, but I noticed it and thought I'd see if others have as well.  Also I got an email today stating that it would be down from 9pm to midnight tonight.

It seems like 220++ days is the new normal for USCIS.

My fiance called them yesterday on 213 days and the representative didn't say nothing more than we already knew. That on july 19 they touched our case and it's still pending for review. She then asked him if he wanted to file and inquiry which can be done by email or by phone. My fiance said since now we were talking, he thought we could file it right away. She gave him a referral number and told him to wait for another 30 days.

Anyone has a clue why USCIS takes longer to review cases? I remember they also started implementing new site fully when they were doing january fillers. Are we a poster child to set an example or something?

I haven't checked VJ much these days. Seeing people after us got approved makes me so depressed. But I saw some of my VJ buddies are still waiting too @I.Kat, @Snuffles, @LuFlolady we really should celebrate together when this wait is finally over and our loved ones are finally state side!!!

I have read from here that a scanned letter of intent to marry is acceptable. @Greenbaum any thoughts?
