@V&R2018 - I met my fiancee through an online dating site.  We're January filers and just got NOA2 (email notification and hard copy) this week.  When we filed, we knew about the requirement to show that the site we were using wasn't an IMB.  I did a few things to establish it to USCIS:

  • I printed the site's About page and put it in the visa package.
  • In our letter with the I-129F, I wrote more details about the site to explain that they are an organization that introduces people from the same religious background to each other, and that they are not in the business of arranging international marriages.  (This is true even though the other couple we know who met on that site was US/UK!)
  • I also contacted the site's staff and had them write a letter explaining the above and saying that they were not an IMB.  I included this in the visa package's evidence.
  • We also included a lot of photos of ourselves together as evidence and included letters from friends and both of our families describing our relationship and the ways they interacted with us as a couple.

We got approved without an RFE, so our approach may help you.  In general though, it probably is not sufficient to just check the box on the form they sent.  I think there's a question on the I-129F which is essentially along the same lines as this question.  It's better not to risk further trouble with your case.  We've all been waiting for quite a while already.

Sorry, I was busy! Thank you for your advice :) We didn’t meet on dating site so my fiancé marked No and signed with date next to it. I’ll keep you guys posted once I receive any updates. Thanks again to everyone for all your advice

This is why I haven't nor will bother calling till I'm outside normal processing time. Getting differ stories every time u call. It's been a on going issue with uscis. They pick u up and slam u back to ground.

Its sad to see them play with our emotions. They actually have our life's in there hands.

Honestly, even when you are outside of the normal processing time, it doesn't change the fact that they are misleading us. On our previous call (and yes, we are out of the normal processing time), we inquired and were told that we would  hear from them by Aug 22nd or earlier. On the last call, they already changed it to 22nd the earliest and then they have 15 days for response (and by "response" they mean even "we are still reviewing your case"). It is SO HARD to actually have trust in a system that has been just lying.

Woke up this morning to an email from uscis that an action has been taken on my case. I checked my account and realized it’s an RFE. At least now I know they are now working on our case after being out of processing timeline. I’ll give them a call to see if I can have them fax it just so I have an idea what it might be.

Praying for you health and fast recovery. Approval is just around the corner but our health and body is only one. Good thing you chose to take away all the pressures and focus first on your surgery.

Godbless you my Friend.:innocent::wub:🙏

Your letter might arrive tomorrow or early next week. The officer once told, once it gets to the system that means letter is already on the way.

The tier 2 person said the RFE is sent aug 7 but until now they did not updated the website. Meaning they haven't' really sent the letter?

I have a funny thing to share. Yes most likely they haven’t sent the letter yet. They only told us they sent but the truth is they haven’t sent anything yet at all.

This morning Jason called the tier 2 again and spoke to him what’s our RFE all about. And the tier 2 just said, they need more evidence from us but they might still change their mind and just approve us.

It is so funny, like which is which? Meaning they haven’t given us the final adjudication yet. So confusing..😳😳😳

210 day today

still have heard nothing

went ahead and filed for an out of processing time request.

Sometimes I wish I would have met my fiancé a year or two earlier. This would have been a hell of a lot easier.

Gahhh the worst is that I haven’t received one update. Every time I go on the website it still says “we have received your case”

it would be nice if they could let us all know if our case is being looked at and not accumulating dust on someone’s desk. I can’t help but be a little jealous at all the February approvals so far.
