Was that an update from tonight on their system?

Yup! I called last night China time (around 9am EDT on the morning of the 9th, US time) and got told we were approved, but there was nothing on the website until around half an hour ago. I checked it an hour prior and it was still at 'received'. Haven't received any emails or texts yet, but I'm assuming those will come around 6:30 based on other users' experiences.

why have you decided to call?

you didnt hit the 200 days period, they could just tell you to continue to wait, as people say here

I would have been fine with that. :) I actually got really lucky because it was the only time I called and it just so happened to have been on the morning of my approval. I called because I was worried about getting an RFE that didn't update online, as has happened to others. In my case, it would have been a bigger deal because the local mail service here in China hasn't managed to actually deliver anything that USCIS has sent me, lol

Yes, that's where the approval is posted now (and wasn't 2 hours ago). :) There's nothing on the old website, which seems to be entirely dead at this point for all I can tell.

I’ve been lucky to have been able to spend almost a year in South Africa with my fiancé, but had to come back home yesterday as I have to continue on with my life. :(

just hope I don’t have to be away from him much longer. I feel for the couples who haven’t been able to see each other for awhile.

So thanks to everyones advice I was able to reach a tier 2.

Heres what they told me:

I would most likely not being getting a RFE at this late in the game (218 days)

My case has no red flags

Theres no particular reason why my case is taking longer such as background checks its just simply every worker works at different speeds and every case is not worked in an exact order

7 months is just an estimate and cases can and will take longer

I would likely get an answer in 2 weeks

All of the above information was the opinion of the Tier2 officer and does not confirm anything but the RFE thing was comforting.

Jay, this is great news! Thank you for sharing this with us, it gives us (especially early January filers) more hope 🤗
