Hey everyone.  I’m sitting in the airport on my way to Brazil to attend the interview with my fiancée in Rio de Janeiro.  Tuesday is her medical and next tuesday is her interview.  Wish us luck 🙏🤗

These cases take time. I have notice that Canada ranks up there with the slowness to approve a visa. I think that there are more from Canada then the visa allotment that's available for Canada. If there are no "Visa slots" then you will be on hold in que waiting for your date to be completed for approval. Many from Canada are experiencing this.

Try using these tools.

1.  Use the tools here in VJ to answer "when I am going to get etc. etc." question. Near your picture, there is a link to your timeline. Select it and once you're on the next page near your picture you will see "follow similar timelines" and it will populate 12 other couples who are near your dates. Scroll down and you will see a "spreadsheet" style page showing all the variables for measurement for when others from your Embassy are getting the same notice of approval or action.  Try it. It really works!

 

2. And if you want to follow those from other countries that have similar timelines as yours there are several tools available to you. Go up to Immigration Timelines on the blue ribbon above and select it. Once you are on the next page looked to your left and you will see a box that states, "find similar timelines" and select it. A list will populate with those who are processing close to your timeline. When they start to change you will soon be behind them.

The visa limit does not apply to K1 visas, because they are technically non-immigrant visas.  The limit does not apply when adjusting status from K1 either, as at that point your fiance will be your spouse, which qualifies them as an immediate relative of a USC and exempts them from the visa limits.

Just thought I'd post an update;

 

After NOA2 on the 27th of July, it took about a month for our K1 to make it to the London embassy; end of August. Medicals in the UK were about a month out at the time, and I had mine on the 20th of September. Interview happened a few weeks later, 5th of October. We were approved at that time; my fiance didn't attend, and we only provided form I134 (affidavit of support), a basic letter of employment and six pay stubs. I was a little worried about the latter as he's paid bi-weekly, and I made the mistake of assuming they were his monthly wages initially.

 

Case went to non-immigrant application received on the 10th, in the morning, and Administrative Processing in the afternoon. Case went to issued on the 11th, but I didn't get a dispatch email to say my passport had been sent out until Friday. Passport and visa is due to arrive tomorrow, and all going well, I'm leaving the UK on Tuesday. 

 

Waiting for the NOA2 is awful, but my personal opinion is that waiting for passport back after the interview is worse, because you're so close to the end.

 

A few other things I've discovered when doing this process;

- the biggest regret I have about moving is leaving work and my work colleagues behind. I'll be working for them remotely once I have employment authorization, but it won't be the same.

- if you spend a lot of time dwelling on the move itself, and leaving your home country behind, you'll be in very real danger of talking yourself out of it.

- My fiance is tempted to move to the UK in a few years. I wish I'd known before!

- Doing the CR1 would have been SO much easier. If I had to 'do over', I'd probably choose the marriage visa.

- you NEED to take some 'you time'. Especially afterwards. If, like me, everything is a whirlwind, chances are after everything has died down again, you're going to get homesick. You'll probably get actually sick too - all that stress isn't good, and as soon as you relax, everything you've been too stressed to focus on is all going to want to hit you at once.

 

I really hope stragglers will get their NOA2s soon, and that the process goes smoothly for everyone!

I stand corrected on the K-1 by my further research I was able to verify what you stated. I'm not sure what you are pointing out on your second sentence as I have never laid claim that there are any quota's on the AOS after marriage. I'm not sure where that came from.

The AOS part wasn't in reference to anything you had stated, just for general info to let people know that although some AOS categories are subject to limits, K1 to LPR shouldn't be. 👍

Hi friend.. no case number yet for us but when i called, nvc person told me they already received our paper from uscis. How are you doin’? Are you still in Lagos now?

I'm good just counting down the days to call NVC too....lol and Lagos? My fiance is Congolese living in South Africa....

😂😂😂 oh sorry for that... thought you are staying in lagos now while with him. Anyways, such a great relief knowing we are now waiting for our case number.. 😌😌😌 day 19for us but no case number yet.

Lol no problem nope we are in South Africa....when u talked to them did they say how much longer it will be until you get a case number?
