I believe you're right. The instructions nor the form as you to describe in detail how the couple met and started dating. People who do send that do it because they believe it will help. But it's not required. Most get approved without it. But I guess it's ultimately up to the adjudicator.

@Lucy&Jason, what was your RFE about tho? You said it was just asking if your fiance was previously married and to just tick that box. Why are you sending in a letter explaining how you guys met? Did they also ask for that?

I'm starting to worry, should @radharose and I have sent in a letter describing with detail how we met our fiancé(e)s?

You only need to do, do. Anything else is fluff and is not needed. If it was needed don't you think that it would have been in the RFE instructions?

I'm confused as to what you're referring to lol. Are you saying that a letter explaining how a couple met is not needed? And I have not received a RFE if thats what you thought 😔. Hopefully this week I'll get real action on my case.

Sorry for any confusion.

I HATE being cold but I do love the idea of watching the snow fall while bundled up in our home watching a movie. He is in Peru now so when it is 60 degrees he says "OMG, its sooooo cold!" and I tel him, ummmmmm you need to prepare for Chicago or you will die, lol.

Quick story about Chicago winters. I lived in Chicago in the mid 80's and the coldest recorded temp was -33 F with a wind chill somewhere near -85 F. It was right around the holidays and at the time I was dating a girl who was from Green Bay Wisconsin and she wanted me to join her to visit her parents (my first meeting with them). So I knew there was no way the car was going to start in an open parking lot in front of an Apartment Building. So I drove to the gas station and filled up the car and drove it back to the apartment where I left the car with heater, running all night. We woke up the next morning and packed the car that was toasty warm and made the trip to GB. Next two years were similar in temp readings and that was when I decided that there were much warmer places to live then Chicago and I moved to California.

My current wife is from the Philippines and they flew to Raleigh in the middle of December and I met them at the airport. But first I bought each of them this big winter coat which I brought with me. They were coming down the escalator and they saw me and the look on their face was bewilderment. We got the luggage and went to leave the airport and the doors opened up to 20 F and I thought they were going to turn around and go back to the Philippines. Now they are used to it and it doesn't bother them all that much.

No I was referring to those who you were replying to, that there is no reason to do more then what is required.

OMG, yes you are 100% correct. What a great story. I assume that this will be the same situation with Bryan. My mom offered to buy him a coat with a built in heater. I might have to take her up on that offer! And Cali was a great choice for climate. I used to want to live there but now Bryan and I want to see the world and I have no idea where we will end up someday. I have a 5 year old son so we will stay in Chicago until he goes to College (or wants to move out). Then we will def go somewhere warm. Just not sure where that will be!

Hi Guys,

Newbie here. I submitted my I-129f in January 2018 and very happy to have found this site. Looks like I’m not the only one who is still waiting.

Old site :  Jan 22

New site: Jan 25

I submitted a case inquiry once my case was outside normal processing windows and USCIS sent me an email saying the following:

It’s just so frustrating because it seems that there is always a new date or extended deadline. Has anyone else been on here waiting this long with no NO2?

I also tried calling the call center a few times but they are useless and give me no information. I wish I could see a light at the end of the tunnel!

I get you on the new and updated timelines every time. We are also date twins (with @iwir) and no news.

How do you know that NVC only forwards cases to the embassies twice a month?  I've seen that mentioned before, but looking at people's timelines, it shows 'Left NVC' on many different days, not just twice a month.  For example, for August in the timeline search, it shows 'Left NVC' on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 29th & 31st.

With respect to cases being sent to the embassy twice a month it is  what has been reported from peoples past experiences. There is no official nvc policy on the matter. I believe this applies to those sent electronically. Those that are sent manually may be sent on other days.

Hello....I know this question has been asked a lot but plz can you tell me 1: how one knows that their case has gotten to the nvc.

2: what is an nvc number

3: how does one know that their case has left the nvc and is on it's way to the embassy?

1) you can call the nvc 10-15 business days after you have reveived noa2 to receive that number . Their number is ‭(603) 334-0888‬

2) it’s your visa case number. Once you have that number you can track the progress of your visa online

3) you wlll be able to track it online via your nvc case number

Checking on your embassy case number from NVC:

It will take 7 - 10 business days for NVC to receive your file from USCIS after you receive the NOA2, then another 2 - 5 business days for NVC to get your file in there system and produce your case number.  Call 7:00 am eastern time for shorter wait times.

1-603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

1 for English, then 7 (or 5, but I would go 7 as they would tell you if you should call 5 instead after they receive your case.)

Best time to call:

Right after they open which is around 7:00pm Philippine time/ 7:00am US Eastern Time, Mon-Fri. I was always able to have the phone answered after the first ring if I called right at 7am.

NVC CONTACT INFORMATION:

Website: www.immigrantvisas.state.govwww.immigrantvisas.state.gov

E-mail: NVCInquiry@state.gov    I highly recommend you email NVC for the MNL #, even if you call and get it, this will give you a correspondence from NVC with the MNL # for future reference.  The email request for your MNL # is also a great way to track when your file is forwarded to USEM as NVC will not reply to the email until that time.

REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:

You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:

* NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).

* Petitioner's name and date of birth.

( NOTE: If the visa petition is employment-based, include the employer's company/organization name instead of the petitioner's name and date of birth. )

* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth.

--- Use this site to check when your file ships from NVC to your Embassy:  State Dept. visa tracking:  https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx?
