@geowrian and people who do include too much pictures or a binder receive what consequence? There's youtube videos of people going far into even decorating their packets.

If it's just a lot of excessive documents, a working theory is that an officer is less likely to pickup your case so you may wait longer. I'm not entirely convinced of that, but it is a working theory.

Another other potential issue is that they will overlook the actually important documents and issue an RFE instead. I know if I received 500+ pages of documents and I needed to search through it for a single sheet of paper, it's easier to issue an RFE than go paper hunting. haha

Sending a binder may not be able to be scanned, r may take a little longer to be scanned. Either way, as somebody who worked with document imaging, I wouldn't wish the effort of having to manually remove each document from a binder, scan it, then put it back (optional?) upon anybody.

There's another theory that the can look like it's "trying too hard" to seem legitimate. I don't subscribe to this theory, though.

Most likely it won't actually cause an issue, and may not even cause a delay. The advantage is the CO has the information ahead of time and can consider it. At the same time, I'm all for sending only what is actually necessary and helpful to your case. Every piece of evidence you send them can also be used against you, so it's much better to send quality evidence over a quantity of evidence. You don't want them randomly looking at, for example, one page of chats where you refer to each other as husband and wife jokingly and then the CO thinks you're already married. Or seeing a page regarding a random gift then the CO asking about it but not being able to recall the specific gift...it looks kinda fishy. One should, IMHO, be fully aware of everything they sent. :)

We've seen a bunch of peopled do it. Or people sending 500+ pages of chat messages and such.. And photo albums. Or CDs and other electronic media.

My assumption is some people just don't realized the process involved (i.e. getting scanned into the system first) and just think it's viewed by a person as-is.

I will be honest: For our K1 application we put our documents in plastic sleeves/Binders, we were learning. I believe this made us wait longer for our packet to get picked up. We were some of the last people for the K1 processing in our forum group on VJ at the time (Ooops:bonk: ...Lesson learned. My mind set is from graduate school and the presentation of materials).

For AOS application we just compiled papers (no plastic sleeves and pages were easily accessible) our case was one of the earlier ones processed during AOS for our EAD/AP card combo on our forum on VJ. :dancing:

I believe part of the delay on the K1 was the binders/plastic sleeves (who wants to have to dissemble all that).  So I am not sure if our processing times were  due to of binders/sleeves and making it more work or just luck but I have my theories. Haha :jest:

I think we went in six pictures with the date and location, as well as our letters of intent. That's it. No pictures of our family, no sweet love letters. Straight and to the point.
