Expired Police certificate

Hi,  I know from the page https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-5-collect-supporting-documents.html  it says that you can use an expired police certificate. Does this include if you have been back to the country to visit? I have an expired police certificate from the UK where I used to live. But I went and visited for 1 month in May. Would I need to get a new certificated because of this?

your timeline is a little confusing...are you a foreigner filing for K-1 in UK?, because your timeline says Consulate in Santo Domingo. Police report is required anywhere you lived after the age of 16 for more than 6 months in any country, except the USA

I don't think this is correct info. If that was the case you'd need a police cert from every country ever that you've visited.

 

This part specifies if it's expired AND you live there, you need a new one: 

 

Important: Police certificates expire after one year, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

  • You are more than 16 years old;
  • The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and
  • You still live in the country that issued the certificate.
