Visa Processing Center Location I-130

Hello- just wondering what exactly determines where your I-130 goes to get processed.  I'm feeling a little disappointed because I live in New England and was told my petition would likely go to Vermont.  I just recently received the receipt and it is in Virginia.  Vermont has a much quicker I-130 processing time compared to Virginia's center and I don't know why I was sent to Virginia.  I called USCIS and they told me your residence does not actually determine where your petition is sent, but rather your spouse's country of residence.  I hope to get some insight on this!

Thanks!

There's no way to know where it goes. USCIS does this based on load distribution (we assume, but nobody fully knows), so it could literally end up at any processing center in the country. Geography is not a determining factor.

Country of residence also doesn't determine this, at least not completely. I've got friends here in Romania who's petitions (same type as mine, filed at the same time) got assigned to a different processing center.

So in summary, there's absolutely no way to know where a case will go. It can also be moved to another center at any time as USCIS sees fit.

I'm not sure how you got that information, but it is completely false.  I-130s for US citizens are distributed by USCIS policy (most likely workload), and it could be transferred to another service center if USCIS as dictated by USCIS policy.
