we just got our nvc welcome letter with the nvc and invoice case numbers. tried to inbut them on the ceac website and it threw the following error: "The selected Case Number and Invoice Identification Number combination you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the National Visa Center for further assistance.” i think a lot of people are in a similar situation. i will call the nvc tonight to ask about it.

This is normal.  It will take a few days for your account to be accessible via CEAC after getting the NVC case number.  Good luck with the NVC stage!

Oh ok mine is April 8 waiting patiently to get my case number 😪

maybe it would be more informative to say that i received a notification from the uscis saying, “case was sent to the department of state,” on march 21st. and according to this website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html), as of now they say, “We are currently working on cases that were received from USCIS on 21-MAR-2019.”

so if you got the notification stating, “case was sent to the department of state,” on april 8th then you might have a wait of 18 more days. i don’t really know for certain, though. i hope it will come sooner for you!

If our recent experience going from petition approval to NVC case number is helpful, our I-130 was approved on February 20 by USCIS and sent to Department of State (NVC), about two weeks later it was received by NVC, and four weeks after that the NVC case number was assigned, and we paid all fees and uploaded all documents a few days after that, so now we're waiting for NVC to review the documents via CEAC which usually takes about three weeks.  Good luck with the NVC part of the process!
