I have used my financial affidavit to apply for my ex- father in law’s greencard several years ago. He did get greencard & was here a few months but passed away  in 2014. So when they ask in the I-130 form if have sponsored anyone else financially what should I answer ? He isn’t alive anymore.

I know I hve to disclose it but my question is he’s not alive now & how do I show that to them so that one more person isn’t added under my financial responsibility

First he was an LPR which means that he came out of your responsibility when he successfully adjusted, as far as I know.

 

You can use the more information page to note that he's deceased and attach the death certificate as evidence. If you do not have or cannot obtain the death certificate on reasonable grounds, describe why on the same page.

An I-864 is valid for much longer than until a person gets through AOS.  In this case, it ended when the person died.

To be even more specific, until AOS was approved, the I-864 was not even in effect. It is executed once the intending immigrant becomes an immigrant (i.e. approval of AOS).
