Hi guys,

I have a question regarding name change. When I got married to my husband, I didn't change my last name. But now I do want to change my last name to his . Since we got married in NYC, I know we only need to remarry for the purpose of changing my last name and have an updated marriage certificate with my new name on it.

Since I have already filed all the documents, I am wondering if I can request a name change at the interview by showing the updated marriage certificate, or should I send USCIS the updated marriage certificate to request a name change?

Thank you!!

I read in some posts  before that they ask you at the interview which  last name u want to be shown on your  gc but im not sure

before I filed for AOS I called USCIS and asked them what name I should put as legal name. I wanted to change my name but on the colorado marriage license/certificate is no option to do put the new name and I didn't have any ID with my new name. Anyway they told me to use the name I want to use for the green card - which is my new married now. I was able to change my social security card to my new name and got my military dependent ID in my new name.. (which I showed at the biometrics appointment) but I believe you can change your name afterwards.. not sure how long this is gonna take but I would recommend calling USCIS or ask at the interview because I would assume they can change things there..

if you already have a social security card with your old name.. you need to change social security first before you can change any ID..

Is there anybody still waiting for biometrics appointment letter?

It's been a month but still nothing.

Just finished calling USCIS and the representative has made a request  for me and told me to wait 15 to 30 days.

Question here: if I finish biometrics later than people who filed AOS in September, will my interview be scheduled before or later than them?

I have sent my documents with my married name, in my marriage certificate I have not been able to change my name, and apply for SSN they had problem to send me one for an error  The agent who received me that day did, then it was too late to process my SSN, I had to apply for an SSN when I sent my AOS, I spoke with an immigration lawyer and he saids when you marry   automatically   The name changed, the marriage certificate is the proof, even you  see the name is not changed it , I sent my documents, I received my first notification  to my marriage name, so far I have not been told anything about that.

Thank you so much!! I will ask at the interview if I can have the married name on the green card since I have already filed AOS with my maiden name:)

I hope everyone here is having a great day so far! My cases are not updating on USCIS website. I got my fingerprints on August 29th but one still showing "case received" and the other "Fingerprint fee accepted". Is this happening to anyone else?

I had my biometrics done the day before you, and I hadn't heard back either, so I was starting to get worried..We finally got an update from USCIS yesterday that they are ready to schedule an interview. Hopefully that means you will hear back pretty soon as well, but it largely depends on the speed/backlog of your field office. Hope this helps!

Hey August AOS filers :)  I filed mine 4th August and have my interview scheduled at the Tampa FL Office for 1st November 2018 so I'm currently getting my paperwork together.  Only thing I'm concerned about is the DS-3025.  I have a copy and it is complete however it was done in February 2018 back in Australia and as it wasn't currently flu season, I didn't get it done (side note - all other vaccinations are up to date).  The interview will be in flu season so I'm wondering if that means I'm going to have to go and get a flu shot and the I-693 form vacc supplement completed by a civil surgeon.  What is everyone else planning on doing?

Cheers Alli
