FYI- our status online changed last Friday to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for an Interview"..... I hope the interview for my wife is soon....

This is gonna be a long wait but it really varies state to state. I knew someone from NEBRASKA only took 7 month to interview from filing date. But the rest average waiting time are around a year now.

So you can chill now. Its gonna be a while until interview

@Joselio - how soon ur wife's interview is depends on the local office - Unfortunately, I don't think Northern California in general is moving very fast? (assuming ur timeline is accurate).
Right now, some people are getting very lucky and getting GC is as few as 3 months from filing. Some people in June already have their interviews and many in July have interviews scheduled for the end of this month.

You can read even the recent June 2018 thread to see where those getting interviews are at.

@faycher- please don't say things that are not true.
7 months is actually not the fastest time out there. People in Greer, South Carolina; Boston, MA; Helena, Montana; St Louis, Missouri; and even San Diego, CA are moving along within 2-5 months from filing date to interview.

It just happens that many get their GC within 6 months and then the unfortunate few in heavy populated places wait about 14+ months so you get an AVERAGE of a year

If it is true that is great. We will see :)

At least that is not what I heard of from cases on vj and friends

Hi Everyone!

AOS august filer here!

I've just recently finished my biometrics and have weirdly enough recieved an email from the US consulate back home in London asking for additional documents to be sent to them (to be more specific my passport). This is a bit weird as I am already in the US with the K1 visa. Has anybody encountered this?

You were supposed to send in a copy of your biographical page, a copy of your k1 and entry stamp from your passport. This shows proof that you entered the US legal and what your immigration status was at time of entry.

ROC Filing:

4/21/2021 - Sent ROC Package via FedEx

4/22/2021 - FedEx package delivered and signed

5/11/2021 - Check cashed

5/14/2021 - Received NOA1 via mail (NOA1 date: 5/8/2021)

6/9/2021 -  Biometrics waived - Case updated to Fingerprints taken

Thanks for your response.

I'll get on that straight away, It's funny that our lawyer didn't mention anything about this.

Hate to say this but you don't need a lawyer to fill out the paperwork and collect the documents. But yes your lawyer should have told you this.

I agree, but it was covered by my husband's legal insurance so we thought, what the hell just use it.

I guess it's mandatory to send those items back to the embassy.

How did you sent yours, the instructions given to me on email was to drop it off in the PO box in London which is going to be a little tricky.

I might just contact the embassy.

Okay, looking at your VJ timeline, you are filing your K1 visa, not the AOS which in this forum means Adjustment of Status (the part where you apply for your green card).

So you are not here in the US and are applying to marry your US fiancé here in the US, correct? Or are you married already to your US fiancé and now in the US and have filed for your green card.

If you have applied for your green card that would be the AOS filing which means, you are not dealing with the embassy any longer and are dealing with USCIS here in the US. So, if you can please explain what is current status so that I know how to give you the correct feedback.

I haven't updated my timeline to be fair. I already have the k1 visa, my POE was last July got married last week of July. We sent the adjustment of status (GC) packet last August and finished my biometrics last week.

That's what I thought too, why does the embassy need my passport? I already have my k1 visa and they already cancelled my b1/b2 and c1/d whilst issuing me the k1. It's just all so strange to me why they need my passport again. Just called my lawyer and she was also baffled about this.

And you are sure the email came from the embassy and not USCIS?

In the email, did it have your K1 case# (WAC#) or did it have your AOS case# (MSC#)?

Definitely the embassy as the email address was the same one they use to notify me before in regards to Passport pick up, appointments. etc.

Nope my MSC# or WAC# is not on the email. It is so strange but it seems legit cause I logged in to the document or appointment booking system for the United Kingdom and it's toggling me to book an appointment with DX to have my passport picked up in their Central London PO box.
