Hello all,

We will be expecting our NOA2 in Septemberish and was just looking over some medical stuff. I saw that we need to get a "sepum test"  for the consulate in Jakarta. Is this true? If so, I also heard that it will take 3 months to get the results, once again, true? Lastly, if both of these are true, should we get the test now to expedite the process? Thanks so much!

Maybe you mean is "sputum test"

actually sputum test is additional test that would be asked if they found "something" (TB sign) on the x-ray result.they will not ask you the Sputum test if no TB Sign.

and yes! the sputum test will take about 3 months  to get the result.

they didnt ask me to do the sputum test for  my med-check last month

Don't worry if you really believe you're on good condition. but if you really worried about it, you can have another medical check up asap.

I don't think sputum test is required for Jakarta US Embassy, unless there is anomaly in the chest X-ray result.

In the Jakarta US Embassy general medical guideline above, you should get the medical from the any of the 3 authorized doctors.

I just had my medical check up last month. I wasn't asked to do sputum test, however if they suspected TB from the chest x-ray, they'll call you after to return for sputum test.

1. No, it isn't true. It will be required if it looks like you have TB, as others have said.

2. Yes, that is true.

3. I don't think you should do any of the med stuff until the embassy has received your packet.
