I can always argue my point.  But some fence posts are not amenable.

I recall a time when you did not.  And the cell service was sketchy at best (at home).  Glad it’s gotten better for you.

No, it isn’t.  I recall very well offering to let you try my cell service to see if you could get better coverage.

my issue isn't coverage, i think i remember trying to explain that at the time.

the free press is not an unbiased press as much as folks like to think they are.

The mainstream media don't represent a free press; they're availing themselves of freedom of the press.

The number of unscathed CEHST regulars (of whichever political bent) can be counted on the fingers of one knuckle.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

Rush Limbaugh (whose 30th anniversary of his national broadcast was just this week) became popular, as he himself put it, because "I am 'equal time.'"  He was first as the only "other" voice, the first alternative to the traditional mainstream media.

Rush needs to discuss both sides of issues thoroughly, in order to dissect both sides in analysis.  (In fact, he doesn't merely dissect issues; he shreds them.)  This is more than the mainstream media do, because they present the issues that they want us to hear, and with editing of their choice.  Rush has "open-line Fridays" when anyone can call with anything that's on their mind.

Liberals always go right to the front of the caller line.  In past years, Rush would point out (and accurately so, when one would observe it) that most liberal callers would start with the personal attacks within 30 seconds of beginning their discussion.  The few that didn't?  They often ended up as the most enlightening calls of his program.

He also has correctly pointed out that when people call and say "Dittos, Rush," it doesn't mean that they're mind-numbed robots (also his term); rather, it's to save precious airtime that would otherwise be taken up by saying "Rush, thank you for taking my call, love your show, I appreciate what you do," etc.

There would be no talk radio without what Rush has done.  Pre-him, midday AM radio consisted chiefly of home-improvement shows and long-form garden shows.  (Nothing wrong with either, because both have loyal followings and make money for radio stations.)  However, Rush proved that conservative talk formats could be wildly popular and insanely profitable.

The above takes a circular route around to the essential answer to the quoted question.  Rush isn't popular because people agree with him -- he's popular because he gives voice to, analyzes, and puts into understandable language what a whole lot of people already think, and for whom no alternative would otherwise exist.  Indeed, his typical weekly audience was (last that I heard) around 20 million listeners.

The other conservative talk-radio hosts are as listened-to as they are now because Rush Limbaugh blazed the trail and proved beyond doubt that such formats had widespread appeal.

And it is interesting how hard the other side, including the biased left wing media would love to crush Rush so they could keep their monopoly of what information is given to the masses.  Like I said earlier, we have a free press, but that does not mean it is an unbiased press.

i don't listen to rush but, what kind of self respecting liberal would waste their time calling into his show?
