Okay you all I have an important question. I want to know if the drug tests that the jobs ask for release the results to the FBI, DHS, USCIS or all the above if it comes up positive. My husband and I are freaking out right now because he smoked a joint a couple of months ago not knowing that the job he was applying for needed a urine sample for a drug test. We are just scared that if it comes up positive it will prevent him from getting his green card. Do jobs release this information to the government?? :help:

Drug test results taken by a private company in regard to employment of an individual are not forwarded to government agencies.

He should be fine. For most casual users, THC is only detectable for a few days after smoking. For most preemployment tests, level of THC metabolites needs to be quite high to be detected. There is a lot of misinformation about this, particularly in advertising for products that supposedly allow you to produce a "clean" sample for testing. If he hasn't smoked in two months, he would most certainly test negative.

K-1

March 7, 2005: I-129F NOA1

September 20, 2005: K-1 Interview in London. Visa received shortly thereafter.

AOS

December 30, 2005: I-485 received by USCIS

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008

If he only smoked one joint 3 months back, it won't show up. Probably won't show up, even if it was even a couple of weeks ago.

Just what we need - more people engaged in illegal activity.

As far as I know, they do not release results. Too bad too.

Cheers!

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Company's do not report drug test results to the authorities. However, taking drugs in my opinion is not very smart, particularly when you are going through the immigration process and also job hunting!!
