Hi all - I am considering booking an appointment with either Dr. Ian Zatzman in Vaughan, Ontario or Dr. Randall Lee in Scarborough, Ontario but I have a quick question regarding vaccinations.

I have received my Immunization Record and as far as I can tell, I think I have all the required vaccinations but I'm not sure if they're up to date or if I need any boosters. Is it best to visit my family doctor here with the vaccination list and see if I need any boosters or if I'm missing any - or could this be done at the panel physicians offices listed above?

I want to be as prepared as possible once I leave Alberta - I'm going to Ontario a week before my interview to do the medical, and stay with some family members there, so once I do the medical I will not have access to my family doctor until after the interview. Then I'll fly from Toronto to Montreal.

Thanks for your help/suggestions on this!

I believe it's cheaper to go to your family doctor to have any boosters or additional vaccines done but you can also have them completed at the medical. I had two completed at my medical in BC. From what I understand from the doctor at my medical, the Tdap needs a booster every 10 years. Flu shots are only necessary in the fall/winter months and varicella only requires a verbal confirmation that you've had it (if you have actually had it in the past). Hopefully that helps!

I haven't been keeping up with all the Doctors. Last time I saw there was only Toronto for Ontario so make sure you found the right place.

You health card is all you need. If you have had chicken pox they will take your word for it, if not then you need the shot. Flu shot during flu season only.

Ohhh interesting. I looked through the State dept site and it gave me 3 in Ontario. One is in downtown Toronto, the other 2 are in the suburbs. How can I go about confirming which ones are still relevant?

Thanks for your help!

That could very well be right. Others that have been keeping up will be able to verify for you.

Hi, I was wondering if you've already had your appointment, how long did it take you to get your results? Thanks!

Hi there. Not yet, I scheduled my medical in Montreal for November 20th. They said 3 business days after the medical I will have results. I called the doctors in Ontario and they are taking up to 10 business days to return results. Hope this helps!
