hey all, my congressman just emailed us again.

Dear Mr. Zhang,

Thank you again for contacting my office.  I received the enclosed reply from the USCIS concerning the inquiry I made on your behalf.

"Hello Cheri,

Thank you for your inquiry, relating to the I-751 petition, receipt number WAC18XXXXXXXX filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) by Xiaodong Zhang.

USCIS records confirm that your constituent’s case was received on August 20, 2018 and is within normal processing time. Currently, the California Service Center (CSC) is processing I-751 (Removal of conditions on the Conditional Permanent Resident (CPR) status) cases that were received on or before January 25, 2017.

Additionally, our records indicate that the receipt notice was mailed out to your constituent today, October 23, 2018. Please allow additional time for your constituent to receive the notice in the mail.

To check current case processing times for USCIS Service Centers or Field Offices, please see our website at: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Your constituent is welcome to have you contact us again on their behalf in six months to check the progress of their case.

The receipt notice the constituent received states that the status is automatically extended for one year until the I-751 is adjudicated. However, in actuality, the conditional status is valid until the I-751 case is adjudicated.

We understand this long processing time may be creating concern for your constituent’s international travel and employment. Although not required, the constituent can schedule a free INFOPASS appointment at his/her local USCIS office to receive a free ADIT extension stamp in his/her passport.

https://infopass.uscis.gov/

If the local USCIS office is overbooked and appointments are not available to the public, you can call the local USCIS Congressional Liaison Office on behalf of the constituent and request to book a special appointment.

At the INFOPASS appointment, if the constituent is eligible, the local USCIS office will stamp the passport as evidence that the current status is extended.

The constituent must bring the following documents to the INFOPASS appointment:

- current foreign passport valid for 6 months or more

- current Conditional Legal Permanent Resident card

- copy of the I-751 (Removal of conditions on the CPR status) receipt notice

The constituent can also check the case status on the USCIS website.

https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

The I-751 case must be adjudicated before an N-400 naturalization case can be decided. If the local Field Office is in the process of adjudicating an N-400 case, the Field Office will request the I-751 and adjudicate it simultaneously with the N-400.

If your constituent moves, please refer them to our website www.uscis.gov/addresschange or contact our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 or (800) 767-1833 (TDD for the hearing impaired) if they need to change their address.

Please note, in early 2018, USCIS began a pilot program in five field offices (Hartford, El Paso, Jacksonville, San Francisco, and Sacramento)to prioritize how they provide information services. The pilot encourages applicants to use USCIS’ online information resources and the USCIS contact center for general how-to information and case status information instead of requesting in-person InfoPass appointments.

If your constituent’s local field office is one of the above listed locations, they will need to contact the USCIS Contact Center either by phone or online to request an appointment for an extension stamp. Please see the below information regarding our Contact Center:

CONTACT CENTER

  • Our contact center can address nearly all inquiries from applicants who lack internet access or are unable to find what they need online.
  • Our contact center is available to respond to case-specific inquiries that require administrative or primary adjudicative action to remedy, such as cases that are outside normal processing times, changes of address, appointment rescheduling, requests for expedited processing, and issues related to requests for evidence.
  • You can connect with our contact center by phone at 1-800-375-5283 or online at https://my.uscis.gov/account/v1/needhelpYou can hear recorded information over the phone or talk with a representative and ask your questions. If the representative can’t help, an immigration services officer will help you with your inquiry.
  • We have over 800 representatives and immigration services officers ready to answer your questions at our contact center.
  • Our contact center maintains our phone lines from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • If you need a service that we can only provide in-person (such as passport stamps and advance parole), call our contact center to request an appointment.

We hope the information provided is helpful.  If we may be of assistance in the future, please let us know."

I appreciate you affording me the opportunity to assist you.  Please do not hesitate to contact Cheri Williams again should you need assistance with another matter involving the federal government.

Just to chime in, USCIS confirmed to me they had posted my NOA on the 23rd October as well, so seems like most of us will have had the same. Hope it shows up soon! How long are biometrics taking to be scheduled currently? Any cases of them being skipped?
