isnt that weird?so does that mean the case is in cali or Dallas?

The check is cashed in Dallas because there’s where the lockbox you sent it to is located. The 3 letters on the receipt will tell you where your case is, if it’s wac is the California service center.

No I sent mine to Laguna Niguel in CA and it got cashed in Dallas but I have a WAC receipt number.

exactly!my husband sent it to cali。before the date change, otherwise we would be sept filers。

we thought the receipt number would be the Texas center, since check was cashed there。only to find it starting with wac。

has anyone with the same situation  asked where their case is currently at?i would think cali, but i m still suspicious

The three letters are from the service center that it’s dealing with the petition. If there’s a transfer, the receipt number won’t change but you will receive a letter stating it was transferred.

The cashing the check elsewhere it’s most likely because of the September changes with the lockbox then

Looks like I need to call tomorrow to get a receipt number, hopefully my wife's work will accept a receipt number in lieu of an NOA due to the delays. Otherwise we roadtrip to the local office for a stamp....

This is crazy.

So you're saying the case is still in Cali but checks can get cashed elsewhere? Why would they send the check elsewhere and kept the package in Cali? Sounds weird

Called twice today. The receipt number we got doesn't work online, and when we called back they said the received the case in Aug (how I don't know, check wasn't cashed until Sept) and that I should have already received a biometrics appt. We have a SRC number and they said we are within the normal processing time of 16.5-18.5 months. We got a referral number for the biometrics and are currently in the call back system for tier 2 (138min wait) to figure out why the receipt number doesn't work, but wifey will be at work by then so we will have to do tomorrow. So much head scratching...

At least the game last night was great.

But Case submitted date is Sept 28

I have the same timeline as you. And I have an appointment at my center to get the I-551 stamp on the 22nd of Oct as I'll be travelling outside the country when my Green Card expires and I just don't want to take the risk to wait for the NOA. Not sure when I will get the appointment letter for the bio-metrics. I have a feeling i'll get the appointment when I'm outside the country 😰.

In my Case Status it says to call them after the 28th of Oct if I don't receive the NOA. I'll wait till then to do that.

My understanding is that on 9/10 they changed the process for how I-751s are handled. The applications that were sent to California that hadn't been accepted by then were then ALL sent to the lockboxes, even if they were sent before 9/10 for acceptance and to distribute among all the service centers. So, it's perfectly possible that a mid-August I-751 was (1) mailed to California, then (2) sent by USCIS to one of the lockboxes on or about 9/10, then (3) the lockbox sent it back to California (or for some other people to Texas or Nebraska) for processing.

I don't know for sure cause I don't work for USCIS, but based on what I've been reading on the forums, it seems like this is exactly what's going on.
