It actually does, although I don't like the idea of giving up the expired green card either.  Basically, the stamp is the replacement for you NOA, therefore no need for your green card or NOA.

at one time you should have either

NOA + expired green card or a stamp in the passport.

BUT it seems like it depends on the office and/or officer if they take your expired card. Again, does not make sense because all the offices should follow the same rules everywhere.🙄

Yeah but I thought stamps were only 12 months? Or did we confirm they were 18 and I just missed it?

I would much rather have an expired GC than stamp. I would have to carry the passport everywhere. Hopefully my wife's work will just let it slide especially when we can find her case online. Cause now it feels like a moot point.

So what happens in 12 months in the 4-5 month time when the stamp expire but you have no GC? Does the NOA work off the stamp as well?

Shouldn't the NOA extend the expiration by 18 months off the GC expiration date? Or does it extend it from the date when your I-751 is approved?

Correct me if I'm wrong an I-551 stamp is considered as another GC right?

Or am I completely confused 😕

that is what i m questioning too, does the noa extends the date when the expire green card or off of the form when it got submitted to their system?i feel like it extends from the time the form was submitted

as for the stamp,i wouldn't consider it as a another green card, but that it works almost like a green card。

From my understanding, the NOA extends the expiration of the green card 18 months from the expiration date that is written on the card. NOAs should be 18 months extension. I-551 stamp provides 12 month extension on your passport.
My green card expires today and I am traveling to Canada for business next week. When I was in the Denver field office last week (without any appointments), the officer looked at my case number, my green card (still valid at that time) and my passport. She also had to try several times to find my case in their systems - guessing the same issue happened as USCIS and DHS webpage case statuses. I am thinking she did not take my green card since it was not expired at that time.

I have traveled on I-551 stamp before (and no green card what so ever), they ask for the NOA and the reason. If you have to, make sure to have all your application paperwork with you (it should have a photocopy of your expired GC if you had to surrender to get a stamp, anyway) and be prepared to explain why there is no NOA.  (that's my plan at least on Sunday)

I have appointment on Monday  for the I-551 Stamp. My GC expires Mid of Nov and I'll be returning back after my GC expires.

If they ask to submit my GC for stamp, What do you guys suggest? Should I go ahead with it?

got an update from the congressman office!

so in my husband's case where his letter was supposedly sent on the 21st of sept, yet he still havent received it,he isnt the only one。she called her agency and it is the 3rd person with that same issue today。it seems that on that day there could be a glitch or something。so they are going to reissue another duplicate copy to us,prbly get in 2 weeks。meanwhile she will send us a digital copy through email which we can use with no problem。

before she wasnt able to look up my husband's case on her side, but it is because the old system isnt up to date。which is another issue going on。

That's great news! What's the best way to contact your congressman? Did you call them or wrote an email to them?

i looked them up and they usually have a page on their website to email them or call them。because the day i decided to contact them was nighttime,so i sent an email online first。then i called to verify they received the email。

but i would say call them directly, because they will ask you to fill out some forms before they can help you。

seriously for those who waited so long, try your congressman。they could prbly help!

also i wont have to help my husband file for a missing notice online after the 30 day mark。we will wait for the duplicate mail to come in,if by 2 weeks nothing,i would call the congressman again or then file for a missing notice

Date Received by Lockbox: 08-10-18

Date Check was cashed (By Phoenix): 09-24-18

I called USCIS today (10-10-18) since it has been over two weeks since my check was cashed. I was able to obtain a receipt number and attached is what it looks like when I checked the status. Apparently, my NOA was initially mailed out 09-21-18, and they did have the correct address, but somehow I never received it. Since it's been over 10 business days, the representative filed a service request for my NOA to be sent out again (I verified my address 500  times just to be sure 😂). He told me that if I don't receive it after 30 days to call them back and check with the ticket number he provided. My petition was apparently part of a delayed batch. So if you have not received your NOA and they have cashed your check a few weeks back, it might be worth calling them. I will give them a call after 3 weeks if I have not received it just so I can check on the status since my Green Card expires early November.

I got a letter today in the mail about this service request. It essentially states that my NOA was returned as undeliverable by the USPS but they are resending one to my address. I don't know what happened with it since my address on file was correct when I called and I know I updated my address when I moved because I have a receipt number for that. Anyway, the letter states that I should receive my NOA within 10-14 business days. I'll let you know when I get it!

Yeah but if you surrendered your GC then that is moot.

Wait a digital copy is an option? Why would they not just do that in the first place??? Is it possible to call to request a digital copy?

seriously, this day and age. Digital copy should be available for download and print to provide to employer and such. I sure hope to see any sort of letter soon! Nov 2nd is approaching fast!
