Hi All,

My situation: I was issued an Immigrant Visa E21 category last July 2, 2018 and received it last July 9, 2018. Upon checking my visa and data summary, marital status was INCORRECT so I immediately notified US Embassy Manila and was advised to wait for instruction if I need to send it back or not since I was originally filed in SINGLE status. Without thinking it might complicate things or what not, I opted to renew my passport and just yesterday I received an email from USEM that I need to send back my visa for correction of Marital Status. So, I have two passports on hand my old passport where visa was stamped and my new passport. Question is: Will they still stamp the corrected visa on my old passport since it is what on their records or in the new passport? What are the possible problems I might encounter?

(Please note, I opeted to renew my passport because its validity is less than 6 months by the time of my departure)

thanks

Send both passports back with a letter explaining why there are two. They will more than likely put the corrected visa on the newer passport. And if they don’t that’s not a problem. A valid visa is still good even in an expired passport as long as you have a new valid passport to show with it.

Oh thats a relief. I am really planning to send back both passports alongside my travel itinerary. I hope its not a problem at all. I am really anxious and scared they might cancel my visa because of this
