Hello,

Has anyone been in the situation where at the time they had their interview and we're granted the visa, were not yet married for two years but once they entered the US, it had been two years and were NOT granted conditional residency?

I had my Visa interview in February 2018, was approved and the consulate mailed me back my passport with the visa a few days later. The issue date indicated in the visa is February 27th, 2018. My 2 year wedding anniversary was back in June 2018.

I entered the US for the first time today and they stamped my Visa and wrote cr-2 as my status.

I've read that if at the time of the interview, it hasn't been more than 2 years that I've been married, I would be issued conditional residency. I've also read that if it's been more than 2 years of marriage at the time of ENTRY in the US, I would not be issued conditional residency. Can someone please clarify?

As it stands, it looks like they've granted me conditional residency but I would just like to know the correct info in case I need to contact them to rectify the status.

I did ask the CBP officer if I'd have to remove any conditions in two years and he said no but I'm still confused with the status (cr-2) that he added in my passport.

I will of course await the green card in the mail to see what's indicated and keep my fingers crossed that I won't have to worry about paying additional fees to have the conditions removed in 2 years but in the meantime, any accurate first hand accounts would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Don't sweat what's in your passport.  If you have 2 or more years of marriage at the time of your POE, you should get a ten year green card.

Thank you for the prompt response! Appreciate it! 🙂

Just wait for the greencard in the mail. It will most likely be 10 yr one.

Will do! I sure do hope so! I'll provide an update once I receive it. Thank you! 🙂

My apologies, slight typo. The status written in my passport is CR-1, not CR-2.
