Drug testing at Medical Exam?

My fiancé will be attending his medical exam tomorrow with the US embassy in London. He has recently smoked marijuana for a migraine, but he is not prescribed medicinal marijuana. Will he be drug tested at the medical exam? The website says there is an additional £50 fee for drug testing, but can he opt out? What constitutes them to drug screen the applicant? If anyone can assist we would appreciate it!

There is a question on the form he will fill out asking about drug use.

He has a questionnaire to take in filled out. They hand him another similar to fill out at the exam. If he admits to ever using drugs even once 10-15 years ago, the clinic in London will test him for drugs. He can not opt out.

They asked me to do a supervised drug test due to my medical history 2 years ago (alcohol consumption was noted on my summary). If there is anything in his records, or anything disclosed to them that indicates he has used drugs previously they will say he needs to do a supervised test.

On the back of this though, I wonder, would they still send the medical results to the embassy if someone had a failed drugs test or would the person be notified? If they some bizarre reason they detected alcohol in my sample would they let me know do you think?

Will a failed drug test for marijuana constitute a denial of entry to the US ??

are you WORRIED about failing a drug test?

Im not sure about alcohol but if its something that was noted on your health record (ie alcoholism) it could be an issue if they ran a BAC test.  but unlike drugs, alcohol stays in the system a fairly short amount of time so unless you came in with a BAC of anything, its probably a fairly moot point.  just...errrr..... dont drink the day of and day before exam?

Misunderstanding maybe? I have already had my medical and was asked to do this test due to what was noted on my record. Not a big issue and I've had no alcohol related issues, but I had mental health problems, and going out a lot was seen as a symptom of this, and potential abuse. I'm not worried at all, I was just kind of wondering what would happen if someone did fail the test, would they tell them, or just send the failed result to the embassy to have the person find out on the day of the interview?

Is it possible to postpone his medical exam? It might be wise to do that instead of him going, failing, getting a year ban and having to apply again.

Just realized on Tuesday that you said the drug test was yesterday.

How did it go?
