I’m so proud of you that you finally admit that punching nazis in the face is ridiculous.  You’ve come SO FAR!!

i totally advocate punching them in the face, whenever possible. two steps back.

you shouldn't be so eager to defend nazis, that's pretty gross.

Show me where I ever defended a nazi, and I will buy you dinner.

I do, however, advocate for not punching people in general.  It’s almost like not doing so makes for a more peaceful society.  Strange concept, I know.  Just one of them crazy karma morals I hold.

You are thinking of the definition of “force” as “strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.”

But there is another meaning... “coercion or compulsion, especially with the use or threat of violence.”

She did NOT comply, if she held up the plane for 15 minutes, or 30 minutes, or 2 hours.  Had she COMPLIED, the flight would have departed on schedule, with both her and the criminal onboard.

No, I was thinking of the definition of the word forcibly (using force or violence) which was the word you were using.

She did comply, she left when she was asked to leave.

I wasn’t there, but I’d be willing to be that in her brief 15 minutes of glory, she was asked to sit down or get off the plane multiple times.  And she did not.  THAT is not compliance.  Being asked once to deplane, and getting off forthwith, IS compliance.

Yesterday, we were best friends now we are arguing over semantics.  I’m not feeling the love today.  😭

And to correct my earlier misunderstanding (I thought the girl was younger).... she’s 21.  I hope she gets the jail time or the fine she rightly deserves for disobeying the captain’s authority.

I haven't watched the video, I'm refusing to give her that much attention. But from what I have seen written about it in the media I'm getting the feeling that the crew wasn't that quick with getting her off. She was repeatedly asked to sit down but didn't comply. A British passenger took her phone and all the flight attendant did, was give it back to her. And then finally the pilot asked both her and the man being deported to get off the airplane.  That is how I interpreted how things went down. I could probably find out more from the video, but like I said, I refuse to watch it.

I hope she gets the jail time too. But sadly I doubt it. And this will only give fuel to the two anti-immigrant parties for the election later this November. I'm all for reducing the number of immigrants that come in but they, especially one of them take it a step to far and basically saying if you're not Swedish it is time to go home.

Ok, I am back to really liking you again.  I read a couple of different articles in the past half hour about it, but refused to watch the videos for the same reason as you.

And I could be wrong about when she was asked to leave... I am basing my assumption on the USA, and I am certain it would NOT have taken 15 minutes to have that happen.  I have seen with my own two eyes passengers being told to get off the plane by the captain, and yes, gently but forcibly escorted off, planes for something as simple as not sitting down when a flight attendant asked them to.  They may have higher tolerance for the nonsense this girl pulled in Switzerland.

I, too, don’t like to hear people say “if you’re not from here, then leave”.  But there are times when it’s called for.  Such as someone refusing to assimilate.  Or pay taxes.  Or being in a country and constantly complaint about how the government is, or how poor their lives are there.  I mean come on... if it’s so terrible, then why move there in the first place?

Switzerland?

I don't know how Turkish people are (I'm assuming all if the Turkish crew was from there) but Swedes would not be like American's and drag someone off unless it was absolutely necessary and barely even then. We're too darn polite.

Absolutely, I don't like people who don't care about assimilating. But stupidly immigrants are not entitled to Swedish classes until they receive residency status which takes forever so it's not easy for the people who want to assimilate. They come to Sweden because they hear it is wonderful. They just don't seem to realize that unless you end up in the south or potentially Stockholm, chances are you'll be surrounded by people who don't interact much with strangers unless they have to. To quote my American husband: "For being one of the happiest countries: Swedes don't smile much". I really hate seeing how hurt immigrants are of this who have been in Sweden for 20+ years, speak fluent Swedish, have family and careers.

It's interesting. When I grew up we got a lot of immigrants from Bosnia and Iran/Iraq and they assimilated quickly and were hard working. Now it seems to be mostly Africans and people from unknown middle eastern countries (most likely Afghanistan and Syria) and they're just being #######.

Switzerland, Sweden, Liechtenstein.... they all look the same to me.  :)

What you describe sounds to me like “tribalism”.  In that people tend to stick to what and whom they know.  But I think this manner of being is also influenced by the cold.  I saw it when I lived in Alaska.  Probably didn’t say 100 words to my closest neighbors.  But move down in the Southern US, and people are chatty as all get out!  Knew my neighbor’s life stories within a week of moving in.  Strange how a location/climate can affect us like that.

Don't know. Haven't found a source that mentions time.

Well if it was 2 minutes that's already a minute too long and I'm pretty sure it was longer than 2 minutes

We're probably talking 5+ minutes. It's Europe. We don't forcibly drag people off airplanes if they're not being hostile.

I guess hostility depends on your perspective ☺
