Alright guy. For those who have gone thru this process I’d appreciate your help a lot.

how to go about the AoS after getting married on K-1? There  are a lot of questions on AoS that I don’t have the answer to. Can someone please help me with it? Also, I heard that it’s tecommended to hire a lawyer for this part of the process. Is that true or can it be done without it as well?

No, I’m not married yet. But I’m preparing myself beforehand cuz it’s gonna be crazy when I enter the US and I’m not sure if we are gonna have leisure time to fill out app. I’m basically looking for answers for the below points:

Am I the primary applicant or will it be my US spouse? Just some dumb silly quesrions

—Questions for AoS

  • 10. Alien number? Do we fill out?
  • 12. SSN. Old or new?
  • 19, 20 a & b. 21.
  • 22 a - what visa
  • 24 current immigration status
  • Part 2
  • Part 3
  • Part 5, 10
  • Part 7: 2
  • Part 8
  • Part 13 - what is it?

The intending immigrant is the I-485 applicant. The USC spouse is the petitioner for the underlying petition.

The only form the petitioner provides for AOS is the I-864.

* Yes - this is on the visa and NOAs.

* They should only have one SSN. SSNs are issued for life.

* ???

* K-1

* K-1 visa holder

* not sure what is being asked on the rest. I’m on mobile so o can’t check the question numbers directly (without gauging our my eyes :P)

Do what I did and read slowly through the instructions associated with the form. It's all explained there. Read it many times and practice filling it out. The form itself isn't difficult, part 5 for example is "marital history" so you just write down stuff as it applies to you. Same with the other parts. Otherwise you write in N/A (since typing it won't work).

If you have questions after taking time to read the instructions, come back and we'll help you
