K1 visa approved but in administrative processing

Hey guys!

I had my K1 visa interview in Montreal on July 25th. I had all my documents and after the interview, the officer told me it was approved and handed me 2 pieces of paper (both white) that said “welcome to the USA” and info on how to pick up my passport from the courier. Anyway, on July 27th, on the CEAC website, it said “administrative processing”. Now i’m worried because the officer approved my visa and went about explaining how to pick up my passport, told me congratulations etc, he NEVER told me that i needed to submit additional documents or anything. I was wondering if other people on here had this status and then received their visa soon after? Also, i’m reading a couple people had their interview on the same day as me and they already received their visa.

A few days or even sometimes a week or two of AP is normal. It just means that they are in the process of printing and mailing the visa and passport. Generally it takes around 1 week for the visa to be 'issued' assuming all went well at the interview.

Everyone goes through AP. It was just the weekend also... AP can be 2-3 days, 2-3 weeks, even longer. Getting the approval and "Welcome" pamphlet is good, so at this point relax. Probably not long now.

 

Comparing your case to others is pointless honestly.

This is all normal. Every K-1 goes through some form of AP before being issued.
