Sent in N-400 for my mom, received her biometrics appointment but she has traveled overseas for a few week.

Hi, mailed in N-400 for my mom on July 12, 2018.    Sh has traveled overseas to Karachi, Pakistan for around 7-8 weeks as her niece is getting married at the end of August.  She will be back mid September.

This July 27 I received biometrics appointment letter for her for August 6, 2018. 

My mom completed her 5 years residency requirement and stays with me permanently here in the US.  She travels overseas every year on short trips usually lasting between 2 to 6 weeks.

 

I searched the forums but did not find answer to my question.


Question: 

Can she do her biometrics at a US embassy in the city she is staying at the moment (Karachi, Pakistan)? I can send her copy of her appointment letter.

Or

Shall I reschedule her biometrics appointment for end of September by sending the notice back to the USCIS and requesting a date end of Sept. 2018.

07/31/17 - NOA1

03/22/18 - NOA2

08/28/18 - expected date for medical completion - Sputum test was needed

09/22/18 - anticipated interview date

She will have to re-schedule her biometrics for later on or return in time to attend her appointment. Remember that re-scheduling the biometrics will delay the process longer.

Also agreed. Biometrics would need to be done in the US, and generally at the ASC specified in the letter.

No she can’t do it abroad. She will have to reschedule. Make sure to reschedule the appointment way in advance of the current date or she might be considered a no show.

Thank you all.  I will request reschedule for her for the first week of October just to be on safe side.
