Noa2: aug 27

case received: sept 14

we are hoping for case number on Monday and that it gets sent right away to embassy not oct 2 with a group since it seems the Belgian embassy doesn’t have that many people applying compared to other countries!

The transit of cases to the individual Embassy's is not Embassy Specific. Most go in with the batch but there have been cases, we think they maybe electronic case transfers, where some cases have shown up at the Embassy during the waiting period for the next batch. The important thing is that you get the case number and with it there are some Embassy's let you schedule the appointment and complete the medical. Maybe you can review the links below to see if that is the case for Belgium. I'm sorry but I don't have a Packet 3 letter from your Embassy, so at this time I am unable to share one with you. If you get a copy and would like to share it with me so that I can share with others who come behind you it would be appreciated. Send me a PM here on VJ when you have one and will work out the exchange. Thanks.

For Nigeria, once the case number is available the interview can be booked.  And then give 14 days at least before the interview for the medicals.  But now,  I got November 6 for the interview which I think is a tad late

Here is a google search on VJ only that I completed and there are many threads discussing Nigerian K-1 visa process. https://www.visajourney.com/sitesearch/?cx=partner-pub-3407508467788263%3A9725800110&cof=FORID%3A10&ie=UTF-8&q=nigeria&siteurl=www.visajourney.com%2Fforums%2Ftopic%2F679980-august-2018-noa2-nvc%2F%3Fpage%3D96&ref=&ss=2797j1838949j7

Fiancé/Fiancée visas (K1s, K3s)

If your K1 or K3 petition has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security and you have received notification from the National Visa Center that your petition is on its way to post, you should download and complete the following application. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will contact you when your petition has arrived at post so that you may schedule your appointment. If you have questions, you may e-mail LagosIV@state.gov. [Click to open "Interview Preparatory Packet (K1, K3)" PDF 539KB] Also, please review the pamphlet “Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa.”  (PDF 53KB) https://photos.state.gov/libraries/nigeria/487468/pdfs/Interview_Prep_Packet_K1-K3_SEP14.pdf

You don't need to make appointments for medicals in Nigeria. You need to wait to pay the visa fee (have the DS-160 confirmation page) and have the interview booked before you can go for medicals.

After reading some other posts I want to clarify what I am reading.... so I should expect an email from the NVC when they send our file to the embassy and that will be the last correspondence I receive about it correct? Do they notify me when they receive it at the NVC as well or do I need to keep calling them to check the status?

Also does anyone know the wait time for an interview in the U.K.? My love is Nigerian, but lives in London.

No one can do anything until it hits 6 weeks bc that’s what they define as “normal processing time”. Uscis sends cases in batches and unfortunately it’s not in order. My case took 23 days to get an nvc number. Yours is coming soon.

But isn't the normal processing time from USCIS to NVC 14-30 days?

Yes most people receive their case number within 14-30 days.

However, if it takes longer than that you must wait till it 6 weeks to file an inquiry with NVC.

If your "love" is interviewing in the UK then he or you need to change your profile to reflect the London Embassy and not the Nigerian. When I look at your profile to answer a question, and because each Embassy is different, I want to answer you correctly. So if you could change your Embassy in your profile that would help us to help you.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Maybe you can ask the folks over in the sub-forum for the UK as they will have a better idea about scheduling and any other questions you guys will have.

We got our NVC # two weeks ago, but our case still says "At NVC" when I check. Is there a usual time they send these things to the embassy? Is there something I'm supposed to do on my end that they're waiting for??

We've booked the medical, but we're waiting for "in transit" to book the interview. I know you're all in the same boat as me, but I am *so sick* of waiting, especially when we don't even have a date we're counting down to. Just, "some time in November probably"." Ugh.

Do they notify me when they receive it at the NVC as well or do I need to keep calling them to check the status? You really don't need to call them. Their is a process and it works. 2-3 weeks to NVC and about 3 days for the case number. After registering your email you should start seeing some activity come your way with out calling. But hey!, everyone calls never the less.

Also does anyone know the wait time for an interview in the U.K.? My love is Nigerian, but lives in London.

It's advisable to contact NVC via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html to update your email address as well as your beneficiary's email address.
