NOA2 - 08/22/2018

Just called NVC and received both numbers (NVC & invoice).

I'm just slightly confused because when I was checking visa status on CEAC website (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==) I had to select 'Immigrant' visa and paste my NVC number in order to get status (at NVC).
When I pick 'non-immigrant visa' & my consulate  - it prompts me with error message that number is wrong.

Anyone had something similar happen in their case ?

K1 is a non-immigrant visa with immigration intent.  So on the website it is classified as an immigrant visa.

👍

Additional info: it will eventually change to non-immigrant after the interview Before the issuance of visa, however this will be automatic on their side.

Hello everyone! I have my case number, but my case hasn't been sent to the embassy yet. Can I do the I160 and can my fiance go for his medical exam, or do we need to wait until the embassy has the case?

You can do the ds-160.

however most embassies would want to see NVC letter (will be emailed to you at the time of transit) or document from your embassy. So you can probably get the appointment but it may not be possible to have the medical without the letter.

please fill in your visajourney timeline so we can give you more accurate answers. As everything from this point on will depend on your embassy.

It usually comes when it goes to transit (status : in transit) or when it gets ready. That highly depends on the embassy and the most recent timelines on NVC. Mine came in a week for example l, however this was back in April-may. I’d suggest waiting till it goes transit, and checking other timelines to get an idea how long it’s taking these days.

That’s what I thought. Makes me nervous to make these appointments with nothing ready or in transit bc you really never know with these people. Thanks for the advice

I'm not sure about others, but for the Mumbai Consulate, the ustraveldocs.com website is giving bogus appointment availability.  Take a look at the screenshot below, it shows tons of available appointments, yet all of them result in a message that says "No appointments are available" and after five "guesses" you get locked out.  We called ustraveldocs customer service and they said "We see the same thing, just keep trying."

So what's the deal?  We have to gamble on five random appointment slots per day and hope that it eventually works?

If it makes you nervous, I'd say wait till you get instructions or at least till it says ready. Because every embassy is different.

I specifically asked if that was possible, they said this website is the only way.

Your Embassy is of no help? Again, this may not be true for every Embassy but the Embassy in the Philippines also makes available to schedule an interview appointment by phone. I would think most do but I have no experience with Mumbai.

The K-1 process is quite strange. For a time, it is both a non-immigrant and immigrant visa type. That is why the links (what you received in the email) will send you the process for immigrant which would be the I-864 and DS-260 even though it truly is a non-immigrant visa requiring I-134 and the DS-160. As you go through the stages, within the NVC system you look up your file under immigrant (CEAC.gov). It stays that way until after your interview and the approval and your visa is ready for issue. At that point, it changes over to non -immigrant. It truly is a non-immigrant visa with immigrant intent.

Thank you! I will definitely bring that up and maybe mention involving my congressman see what that does.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Are there any Canadians currently waiting to submit P3? I found a few forums for Montreal Consulate, but they don't seem to be active. Would love to connect! :D

Tracker updated to "Ready" on September 7 and attempted to submit P3 Monday. They emailed back stating they are still processing my case and to NOT submit P3 until I get the OK. So I'm thinking of resubmitting on Friday!

For all things dealing with the US Embassy in Canada head on over to the sub-forum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

So they tell you to wait for their OK after submitting your P3 and so you're going to try again without their OK. You'll get better results if you follow their rules. They have the gold so they get to make the rules.

Apparently the reply I got from Montreal Consulate was a generic "Please don't submit P3 until etc etc" reply. I reached out to a few Canadians who are a step ahead of me and they said they resubmitted every few days until they got P4 emailed to them. Many people received P3 in the mail at the time P4 came in or didn't receive P3 at all 😫
