Just got our NVC case number over the phone; was only on hold 10 minutes or so.

For those wondering:

NOA1: Feb 9

NOA2: Aug 24

NVC Case Created: Sept 10

NVC Case Number Received: Sept 12

Also, fyi, I had called Monday morning (the 10th) at 6am but was told the case had not been received yet.

How do you know the Case Created and Received dates?

On the phone I asked if there was any other information I need to know and he said that the case was created on the 10th, the received date I am referencing is just when I was able to get my number.

I am hoping that our case gets sent in the next batch around the 21st of Sept as I keep reading that there are two batches per month, one around the 7th and one around the 21st and it seems like it takes about 3 days or so for the embassy to receive. (If anybody has more info please feel free to correct, thanks)

99.9 % here are K-1's and probably won't be able to answer your questions. Go to the main forum and look for CR-1, that should get the answer you are looking for.

You have it, with just a minor tweak. 9/18 we are projecting to be the next shipment. They like Wednesdays for some reason.

I just got our NVC number! YAY! I love seeing movement!

NOA1: Feb 19

NOA2: Aug 22

NVC Number Received: Sept 12 - I received this in response to filling out an inquiry on their website, so I'm not sure of my official date yet.

Now we continue to wait and see who wins the race:  Embassy receives our packet, fiancé receives his renewed passport from overseas or fingerprints for police certificate that are stuck in customs in South Africa. Gotta love waiting!

Our NVC dates are the same. We also have our case number.  Where do we fill out DS160 and submit?

NOA1: 1-12

NOA2: 8-20

NVC Rec: 9-10

NVC Case created: 9-12

Most can complete the DS-160 after there case number is released. There is no expiration date but there is a date that it must be completed by and that is the interview. Most Embassy's don't care when it gets done but the Japanese Embassy requires it to be completed as part of the preparation paperwork that is returned to that Embassy. That's what is tricky. If you're in a thread like this one, where everyone is from different country's which has different requirements then you could get the wrong answer. So it's best to go to the sub-forum for your country. Go to the top of this page. Choose the "forum" tab and then scroll 3/4 of the way down the page to see country specific sub-forums.

The DS - 160 is a document that stands on its own. It does not affect anything. It does not need to be finished to do anything else but needs to be completed for the interview and it can be completed between now and the day before your interview. You can't use it to find any information about your case. You can't use if for anything other than for its original intent and that is for the CO to use during your interview to adjudicate your case.

Here is my advice. As a couple you work together answering the questions. Once you are complete and you believe it's ready STOP! Now, each of you look through the copy that is ready to be submitted. Look for blanks or unanswered questions, look for spelling errors and look at dates. Once BOTH are satisfied then the beneficiary is the one to take the oath and submit the document in their country

I am Aug 22 NOA2 and I still haven’t received the NVC case number yet. I just called NVC and they said they have not received it yet!

When seeing here, Aug 24 people have received it already. Doesn’t the USCIS send approved petitions in order? Uh!! This is so frustrating!!

No, it is not in a specific order. Usually it goes from 2 to 4 weeks. That is the average. If you are not out of these dates, keep on calling and being nice. 👍 One day they will surprise you with your number.

THey do not go in order but it is anywhere from 10-15 or so business days.   It took me 23 calendar days to receive NVC number and some were getting it in 14 days.

USCIS mails petitions in batches to NVC. YOu can call USCIS and a tier 1 can tell you when they mailed it to NVC.

Yours is coming.
