Following this post! My fiancé is in the Marine Corp and we are also confused about what proof to bring with the affidavit of support.

Seems like there’s a few of us! Mine is in the Navy, and the only thing we could think of was his orders.

I'm getting ready to send my fiancée a package with our latest evidence of a continuing relationship and my I-134.  Since I was near the poverty limit last year and am still self-employed, I'm preparing a bunch of materials explaining my assets: a letter from my bank, monthly bank statements (since the letter doesn't show average balances), PayPal statements (since I've been working mostly through freelance marketplaces which don't issue 1099s), 1040s, Schedule C's and SE's, tax transcripts, and so forth.

Some people here have mentioned redacting part of their Social Security numbers.  But I figure that my full SSN is already in the I-129F package I sent, so I won't worry about this.  However, there's quite a bit of other sensitive information in the materials I am sending.  For example, my bank statements have the numbers of all of my bank accounts.  If I do have my possible (backup) joint sponsor complete an I-134, he is also self-employed and may have similar concerns.

Should I/we redact anything from these materials?  Does it make sense to?

June 2016: We started writing to each other

June-July 2017: Met in person in the US for our first anniversary

December 2017 - January 2018: Met again in the US and got engaged

01/09/2018: I-129F sent to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox via FedEx

01/16/2018: Received NOA1 (NOA1 notice date: 01/11/2018)

June-July 2018: Met in person in Singapore and Australia for our second anniversary

08/03/2018: Notice date on our NOA2 (updated in USCIS's new website on August 6)

08/15/2018: Our case reached NVC

08/22/2018: Received NVC case number

09/04/2018: Our package left NVC (arrived 9/11, and she sent packet 3 that day)

09/20/2018: Received packet 4; scheduled interview

10/30/2018: Interview - told that we're approved!  Now waiting to receive the visa...
11/27/2018: Port of Entry at BWI

12/1/2018: Our wedding!

12/8/2018: Filed AoS on the way to our honeymoon (12/8-15/2018)
6/~7/2019: EAD and AP approved
09/25/2019: AOS interview in Orlando -- approval and green card!

Next step, June 2019: Filing I-751

Note: My wife is a Singaporean.  She moved to Australia before we met and got permanent residency there.

Hey everyone!

We're starting to gather our supporting docs for the I-134 and want to know if we are on the right track. I keep seeing different info for active duty military. My petitioner is in the USAF.  So far we have his Proof of Service letter, last 3 W2s, IRS Tax Transcript and last 6 LES. Does anyone know if we're missing anything? Thanks in advance!!

So after searching to the end of the internet, and also doing a post on VJ

We have collected his -

Personal Statement of Military Compensation (PSMC) This calculates all the pay, bonuses, taxed and untaxed money received.

Last year’s W2

And a stack of LES’s

We we’re going to get a bank statement showing the last 12 months of deposits but apparently you don’t need a bank statement unless you’re below the poverty line 🤷🏼‍♀️

Are you ladies going to get a bank statement?

Or a signed letter from their Commander stating their employed and their income?

Thanks Adrii! I think we are gonna skip the bank statement. I'll try to get him to get that signed letter from the Commander but he says it takes up to 30 days so I'm not sure.

Youre so welcome!

I think we’ll skip the bank statement too tbh. Like surely with all of those income documents they can see the income lol.

Hmmm I’ll see if we can get a letter from the Commander before he goes away Monday - wishful thinking but we’ll try lol

Sorry, I have another question now too. :)

With the I-129F package, my fiancee and I pretty much went by the book as far as using folders, multiple-hole punches, ACCO fasteners, color-coded tabs, and everything else.  She already has a copy of this package.

I am putting together another package for her to take to the interview, with the I-134, all sorts of financial evidence listed above, and evidence from the new trip.  Will the people at the consulate need such a pretty presentation or care about it?  I'd rather just send her everything once I have it all printed out.

Today makes 1 week since I was approved for the NOA2.  Should I be calling the NVC now to see if they can give me my case number or should I wait another week?  Thanks.

The average is about 10 business days. I'd wait till mid week of next week before call but keep track on CEAC in the event you see some movement then call.

The most basic compilation of your I-129f is required. Each document subset should be paper clipped and then the entire package ACCO fastened together forming your I129f submission. Here is what happens when your file arrives. All the fasteners, paper clips, folders, tabs, color sheets of paper, ACCO fasteners and what not are removed and tossed. Then everything is scanned into your "digital file" for adjudicating.

The presentation is not important to the Embassy CO. What is important is that she can get to the document(s) rather quickly with out taking too much time. The CO's are very busy and only devote less then 5-10 min per interview. Most of the documents you bring they already have and therefor she does not have to bring to the interview.

Your government already knows all that information so to redact IHMO is just busy work. But, this is your case and you need to make that decision for you.

Hi everyone, first time poster, long time lurker.

I'm sure this information is available somewhere on the forum but I haven't been able to find it via my poking around. What exactly is the protocol when calling NVC to ask for your case number? I know it's still too early for me to call in earnest but I tried for the other time just out of curiosity and none of the prerecorded options seemed applicable.

Thank you.

Checking on your embassy case number:

It will take 7 - 10 business days for NVC to receive your file from USCIS after you receive the NOA2, then another 2 - 5 business days for NVC to get your file in there system and produce your case number.  Call 7:00 am eastern time for shorter wait times.

1-603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

1 for English, then 7 (or 5, but I would go 7 as they would tell you if you should call 5 instead after they receive your case.)

Best time to call:

Right after they open which is around 7:00pm Philippine time/ 7:00am US Eastern Time, Mon-Fri. I was always able to have the phone answered after the first ring if I called right at 7am.

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone in here has managed to get their new case number yet from NVC? Was just wondering what the wait time for that is currently. We didn’t get our NOA2 until 7th August so I suspect it’s too early for us yet, but curious is anyone in the week before us has got theirs yet 😊

Average time from NOA2 to NVC is 2 weeks and then average time from NVC to case number creation is about 2 weeks. Calling any earlier IMHO is fruitless. There are others who would start now and call three times a day and the he** with the averages. By calling early you just set yourself for failure and disappointment. Keep your eye on your case at CEAC and if you see movement then call.

I'm a bit confused about which number to put in on CEAC, is it a number that was on the NOA2? We received our NOA2 on August 4th
