We called today and got our case number!

Tracking says it's still at NVC, so thinking I might wait a couple of days until they've sent it over to London before I book my medical and interview..

Next batch of cases should be sent out by nvc  on the 18th of September.

How to consider the situation without income in a year, but with the availability of money.

Earlier it was about 3-5 times more to multiply this amount in the table. I do not remember
Where to find this information
Thank you

Officially for assets on I864 (this is for AOS stage which you will need later for 125% is 5 times). there is no explanation for I134 for it but it is being said 3 times the least.

As you will need it for AOS later. I would read the instructions for I864 (cause if you make 125% for AOS then it will also be enough for I134) they have a very detailed explanation on page 10 "Example on how to use assets"

Yeah but when scheduling the interview at ustraveldocs.com there is a priority date there and i don't know if they refer to the Noa1 or not

k1 doesn't have a priority date. so you can put noa1.

Meaning the priority date when scheduling interview  ustraveldocs.com should be your Noa1 date?

it is not a should be, but more like because we do not have a priority date so you can put the noa1 date and it will work with that as many people are also using this method. because the closer thing we have to a priority date is the first notice date.

Because we have seen it 4 other times and now it has become a pattern. We are never sure if something will change in the mean time so count on every other week.

Priority date is the RECEIVED date on your NOA1. This is from NVC. Priority date is not used with the K-1 visa, you could enter any date you want.

Does anyone have an updated list of the packet (in Spanish) that is sent by the Colombian embassy before the K1 visa interview? I'm trying to pull together some of our evidence in advance so that things flow smoothly.

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Good luck and God's speed.

Also I spoke to a visa service but they haven't really fully answered my questions. In regards to a joint sponsor, is this generally frowned upon by the Colombian embassy?? I currently make above the minimum at my part-time job (about $32,000-$34,000, but this is hourly), but unfortunately I made less than $16,000 per year the past three years. So my income has only increased since October last year. Because of this, I have my father acting as my joint sponsor. Any advice in regards to the joint sponsorship and how it is viewed by the embassy? I'm pretty nervous about this part.

Thank you!

If you can prove that your employment is greater then the required amount for your family size then there isn't any concern and no need for a Co-sponsor. A co-sponsor is not always excepted at most Embassy's so make a strong case for yourself.

If you can get a part time job to add to your salary and that put's you over the top, I highly recommend it. You don't have to keep it forever, just till you get through AOS.

How much income do we need to have?

The minimum financial requirements for Affidavits of Support are determined by the U.S. government’s Poverty Guidelines chart, found below and on USCIS Form I-864P. Green card applicants must show that their sponsor can support them at 125% of the Poverty Guidelines.

On the other hand, fiancé visa applicants only need to show that their sponsor can support them at 100% of the Poverty Guidelines. However, some consular officers are very strict when processing fiancé visas, and consider the 125% level that will be required a few months later when the immigrating fiancé applies for a green card.
