Hello!

We are going to call NVC today to try and get our case number as many other people that had the same NOA2 date as us got theirs.. my question is, once I have my case number, can I then book my medical and interview or do I have to wait for the paperwork to come through?

Also, I take it the date on my NOA2 letter, the one which you have to get everything done by, is null and void once you have received your actual K1 visa, correct?

So my case status at NVC changed from In Transit to Ready yesterday but i am not able to signup and schedule interview at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/gh/gh-gen-faq.as. The site states that i cannot signup although i used all the detials on my passport as stated by the website and that "the site administrator had been noticed" is the error message i get. Ghana consulate. Any idea what to do now to be able to sign up and get interview scheduled...?

Once u have nvc number u can book both. But have to have hard copy before u can attend appointments.

If you get the email with your NOA2, you can print and use that when attending your appointment. jut FYI

Every one will see "in transit" and "case ready" when viewing CEAC, those are pretty accurate statements.

You may be a little early as the Embassy probably hasn't flipped the switch to allow you to book just yet. Give a day or so and try again. Monday would be a good day to make that attempt.

Ignore those instructions as they are for the CR-1 people who are immigrant and are treated differently. Here is the explanation why you are seeing what you are seeing.

 

The K-1 process is quite strange. For a time, it is both a non-immigrant and immigrant visa type. That is why the links (what you received in the email) will send you the process for immigrant which would be the I-864 and DS-260 even though it truly is a non-immigrant visa requiring I-134 and the DS-160. As you go through the stages, within the NVC system you look up your file under immigrant (CEAC.gov). It stays that way until after your interview and the approval and your visa is ready for issue. At that point, it changes over to non -immigrant. It truly is a non-immigrant visa with immigrant intent.

Yes. Once you receive your visa your new date to be concerned with is going to be the expiration date of the visa. Then they next date after that is getting married and filing you AOS within 90 days.

You have the cart before the horse. Use the following links to help you navigate the process in the Philippines at USEM. You've wasted a lot of valuable time as you could have been knocking some of these things out while waiting for the case to be set to READY. USEM is one of the easiest Embassy's to interview with.

 

 Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get done. To smooth that trail for you I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.
